Comments about Hewlett-Packard HP Officejet Pro L7590 Flatbed All-in-One:

Our business owns five of these machines and they are all great. \n\nOn the upside:\n\nThey are reliable. The print quality, both color and black-and-white, is excellent, especially for the money. The double-sided printing is superb. The machines scan easily. We often use the photo templates on the HP software that comes with the unit and we find that this software is very compatible with our other scanning and photo-editing software. We can plug memory sticks from any camera or camcorder into the card slots on the printer and they download directly and smoothly. The fax works reliably. \n\nOn the downside: \n\nThe document feeder can be a little too grabby and crinkles the paper sometimes. It also tends to jam unless the paper guides are set tightly against the paper. It also doesn't work well with some of the slick or bargain-quality paper types. Compared to the problems I have had with the feeders on some other units, though, this one is a cake walk. \n\nIt is noisy. The installation is not the easiest I have ever experienced, but the instructions are very clear. The software it comes with does not work with 64-bit Vista but you can go to the HP website and download an updated driver. The machine, particularly the fax, works best if you do not plug the machine into a surge protector. It has its own built in and the redundancy can affect incoming faxes. \n\nThis machine works excellently well, in my experience, in light- to medium-duty use. I wouldn't want to use it as a heavy duty machine. Just the same it is far superior to a lot of the rickety excuses for printers or faxes I have bought in my lifetime. \n\nI can't believe the negative reviewers are reviewing the same product.

Comments about Hewlett-Packard HP Officejet Pro L7590 Flatbed All-in-One:

I wish I could write a glowing review of the HP Officejet Pro L4590, but I can’t. I’d settle for writing a review describing its’ faults and weaknesses, but I can’t. I’ve had two of these now, and both were DOA. I can’t even get past initialization. It returns an error message of: “One of the ink cartridge(s) is missing or damaged” and since this is the black cartridge, I’m dead in the water. So what I thought I’d do is write a review of the so-called Hewlett-Packard “end user support.”By way of introduction, I am a 27 year veteran of personal computer technical support including a 10 year stint as manager of field service for what was one of the largest privately owned chains in the United States. During that time I was warranty certified for the entire product lines of IBM, Apple, Compaq, Epson, Okidata, Lexmark and others including, ironically, HP. I am a Novell certified network engineer and was part of a team that put a 2500 user state-wide WAN in place from scratch and was head network administrator of same for 3 years. In other words, I know a thing or two about good customer service as it pertains to the personal computer industry and have been around the block more then a few times. My 9 year old Officejet gave up the ghost recently and as I was planning on upgrading to a printer with more functionality I thought this was my chance without the necessity of convincing “She who must be obeyed” of the need. It was a simple case of: “Honey, the printer is dead, we need a new one.” So I did my homework, checked the specs and decided on a 7590. Staples conveniently had this model on sale, so I placed an on-line order and waited.Friday it arrived and Saturday I picked the printer up. Got it home, unboxed it and hooked it up. Powered the printer up and got the error message. Not a problem. Shut the printer down, checked that the ink cartridges were installed correctly as were the print head and tried it again. No luck. Got on the HP website and went straight to technical support. I followed the procedures outlined there. Tested the power, cleaned the connections on the print heads, reseated the cartridges. Still no luck.OK, time for a new tack. I got on-line via the “Support” chat line. The “technician” there wanted me to do the same things I’d already done. Not a problem, I am a technician; I know we need to dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s. Now the “technicians” are very nice. They apologize profusely for the fact that you’re having a problem. Heck, they’re darned near perky, but about as useful as you know what on a boar. 45 minutes later I still have a printer with the error message: “One of the ink cartridge(s) is damaged or missing.” At this point you’d think the “technician” would throw out the cook book and we’d get down to cases. You’d be wrong. Their advice: “The unit is defective, take it back.”Back in the box it went. Exchanged the unit for a new one at Staples. Took it back home, and you guessed it: “One of the ink cartridge(s) is damaged or missing.” I got back on the chat line and told the “technician” that I’d like to speak to a level 2 technician this time. The polite, cheerful, apologetic, and perky “technician” was sorry, but to speak to a level 2 technician I’d have to call. So I did. Got yet another polite, cheerful, apologetic, and perky “technician” who wanted me to do all of the things I’d done on my own and with the first “technician” all over again. So we did. And another 45 minutes later I still had “One of the ink cartridge(s) is damaged or missing.” Ah, but I’m at level 2, right? So I get transferred to yet another polite, cheerful, apologetic, and perky “technician,” but this time a “specialist” in ink cartridges. After yet another 45 minutes I was told that I had: “A bad ink cartridge, but don’t worry, we’ll ship a replacement. It should arrive in 7 to 10 working days.” So I have a two hundred dollar paper weight sitting on my desk for about a week, give or take. I think to myself, which is always a dangerous thing to do, “I’ll just buy another ink cartridge and when the replacement finally arrives I’ll have a spare.”Back to Staples I go and plunk down $25 bucks for another ink cartridge. Get back home, install the new cartridge and: “One of the ink cartridge(s) is damage or missing.” I call “Tech Support” back and tell them what is going on. I am now told that this will be forwarded to a Case Manager. Ah, a Case Manager! Let me tell you this: if it reaches this level you might as well cash it in and go home. A Case Manager is not a technician, nor even what passes for a “technician” at HP “Customer Support.” A Case Manager wouldn’t even know which end was the handle if you handed them a hot soldering iron. A Case Manager is nothing but a person who will tell you that you have two options: take it back or we’ll send you a replacement. A refurbished replacement. Now, why would I want to swap a brand new, if albeit defective printer for someone else’s problems? Wouldn’t you think that a manufacturer like Hewlett-Packard would make it good with a new printer? Apparently not. I was also told by the Case Manager that there is no level 3 support available, something that is either an outright lie or one of the greatest travesties I’ve ever heard of. If there is no level 3 support then to whom are the current dealer technicians turning to for support? Oh, and back to that refurbished printer – they come with no supplies. No ink cartridges or print heads. And what am I to use for ink cartridges and print heads? The same ones which are giving me the message: “One of the ink cartridge(s) is missing or damaged…” Right.Glutton for punishment that I am, back in the box a third time the printer went and I’ve exchanged it for yet another 7590. Since last night I was too angry and disgusted by this whole situation it will sit in its’ box until tonight, when I might be more calm. Time will tell if this one works or not.[...]

Comments about Hewlett-Packard HP Officejet Pro L7590 Flatbed All-in-One:

What in the name of Sam Hill is wrong with the negative reviews. It can't get much simpler to set this printer up. The print quality is the best out there. I have a Brother machine for printing bigger size envelopes ONLY. It makes just as much noise as the HP - they all do. The brother color is an absolute joke. HP color is as good as it gets for a regular printer. If you are going to abuse a printer, you will get the expected results unless you are brain dead and dont understand this concept. If you dont pull out the output tray far enough - bingo - you got a paper jam. Whats not to understand here. The paper needs room to rest stretched out until picked up by a human and removed from the tray. If you are getting a paper jam with faxing, you are probably not adjusting the feeder tray to the size of the paper you are feeding. When the original feeds through, it will start in crooked and probably cause a jam. Any other reason, you are on your own here. For those of you who mess up the print heads - let the printer complete its print job before messing with it. This is the only way I can possible see a print head messing up. Ink cartridge jammed up? Run a piece of paper towel under very hot water and place the cartride on top of the towel with the nozzle on the towel for half an hour or longer and your up and running again unless you are out of ink. Hint - when HP tells you a cartridge is out of ink, run it for a while longer as there is still ink in there. Save money. I dont have the time to continue telling about all the no fault problems you guys have had. Respect the printer and it will produce good quality prints. As far as contruction, check out the brother printer. It doesnt get any cheaper than that. HP is made of medium quality and for the price, replace it when you abuse it. It still is a bargain for the price.

Comments about Hewlett-Packard HP Officejet Pro L7590 Flatbed All-in-One:

We replaced our old HP All-In-One with the L7780. It worked like a dream at first, but slowly started to get worse. The auto feed will not take the pages the first time a document is faxed. Essentially, we have to fax everything twice. Whenever we try to scan or copy in color, a large blue streak prints or scans along with the image (this didn't happen until 3 months after purchase and setup). We attempted to call HP about the problem (because we neglected to buy the protection plan from Staples; hindsight is 20/20), but after entering the product number, we were told by the recorded voice that the warranty was up.\n\nNeedless to say, we are in the market for a new All-In-One.

Comments about Hewlett-Packard HP Officejet Pro L7590 Flatbed All-in-One:

I use my all-in-one nearly every day. I would say that the work load is medium in that I fax several times a week, I make numerous copies and I scan documents once in a while.\n\nI was a little reluctant to buy this machine at first because I had read some of the other reviews, but now that I have it, I LOVE IT!!! It gives me great quality prints, even in the draft mode, and has a very quick response time for printing. I have used the two-sided printing option, and it runs like a dream! The other consideration I had when I was buying a new machine was the size of the ink cartridges because so many of them come with small capacity cartridges; however with this machine, you have the option to buy the XL size for higher usage offices. \n\nThe only thing that I can about the machine that I might like to see improved is the amount of noise it makes when it is running. Since I don't have a very high daily usage, it really isn't too big a problem for me, but I can see that if it ran a lot, it would become annoying.\n\nI have used HP equipment in the past, and once again they have built a quality machine.
