Pretty easy to set up, not fun in a hot attic running the wiring though. The power and video lines are one piece so you just plug in what looks like a mini-DIN connector about 12" from the camera head and it gets power and video feed. The tightening knob to adjust the head unit is kinda weak, really have to crank down on it to hold. Screws that come with it are short and not suitable to go through the soffit into the underlying wood. Used my own screws. On the camera setup menu you can adjust different levels of contrast, brightness, record level, motion sensitivity and stuff for each camera. You can display one camera on the screen or all four, no other selection permitted. When recording, you can select high quality, med, or low quality recording, which affects the time it takes to fill up hard drive. You can record all four all the time, or select motion record on just the one that sensed the motion or if one sensed the motion, record on all. It is a really wide angle lense, it's hard to make out someones facial features beyond about 20 feet. Have had several months now and no problems, leave on all the time. Hard drive overwrites itself about every 15 days on high quality settings and record on motion. Playback is slow to search and find a particular time. Playback quality is ok, not the most detailed. Overall it was ok, price was high at 6 big ben's. But it's nice when there's a noise outside we can just look at the monitor on our dresser and see what's going on. We have two inside covering front and back doors, and two outside covering front and back of house. IR works great in pitch darkness, but beyond about 15' it's not very good. Hookup on the net was not hard, but quality of signal is degraded so it's not the same as the quality direct from the box to your tv or monitor.

I bought this product to protect my home business. This is the third system I have installed. This has been the easiest system to install of all three. It was almost plug and play with my home network. Just a couple small setting changes. I can view all cameras from any computer or TV set in my house. Very user friendly. After having some thefts on the property, I purchased the CV0240DVR and was very pleased on how easy it was to set-up. I suggest that you plug the video output into a TV to give you a live shot before “you run your wires”. You may need an assistant on a step stool to hold a camera in various positions to check the light and view before you go to the trouble of drilling holes or fastening the cables to the wall, etc. Later we realized that during the daytime, the backlight from the windows was harmful, but at night it is not a problem. My internet provider provided a static IP Address which he set up remotely in 10 – 15 minutes. I was then instantly able to view the covered location via the internet. [...] YES- -IT WORKS, as just a short time later we were broken into and burglarized. We downloaded the pictures in both AVI and JPG files to a CD and gave to the authorities right after the burglary. Later they commented that the videos were superior to those of the average convenience store. Within 2 days of the videos being released to the media, the Burglars were arrested. Do not procrastinate; buy your SVAT system now as you may need it sooner than you think.
