Comments about Safco Two Tier File Cart, Black:

On the one I bought, the rails (for hanging letter-size files) are 11 7/8" apart at their centers, and the clearance between them is 11 5/8".

All my hanging files (Oxford, SCM, Pendaflex, Staples, etc), and all my other file cabinets and hanging-file boxes, are mutually compatible. They seem designed with full 12" standard distance between rail-centers, and more than 11 5/8" clearance.

In fact, the *paperboard* on hanging folders can be a full 11 5/8" across, so some folders scrape against these rails if they're inserted at a true perpendicular. And once they're in, they don't slide happily unless they're at a slight diagonal. The "cradle" part of the hanging folder is not centered on the rail, so the diagonal part is holding the weight of the file.

This may not bother you if you're not using this model for daily ready-at-hand filing. But that's exactly what I wanted an open-top rollable file to do...

(It's possible this is just a manufacturing glitch on the one I bought, but it's a two-tier model, and the two rectangular frames have exactly the same problem.)
