Overall a great drive. Very quite. USB 2.0 is nice. This drive just has a single power cord with a rather small plug. VERY nice to get away from the two part cords with the big power boxes. No power switch. If it's plugged in and connected via USB it is on. Be prepared to hunt down some software if you are using w/Mac OS 10.5. My system did not recognize my drive initially as a writable drive. Download a small drive formatting program from Seagate's website and you can partition it as you see fit! It has been working perfectly as an incremental backup drive for about a month without issue.

Converted to Mac storage device with no problems. Journaled the formatting and Time Machine recognizes the drive for additional storage.

My review is about the Seagate FreeAgent 1.5TB Desktop External Hard Drive.
The software that came with it rejected 600-something files, which were ALL JPEG PHOTOS!
However, it DID save all my other photos, which number in the thousands.
The "rejected 600" were randomly rejected by the Sea-gate "brain" from many different folders--not just one folder. Go figure!?
Since I most certainly wanted it to save ALL my photos, I simply by-passed the Seagate software and manually saved the photos to folders I created in the Seagate drive, and that worked for me.
I would be happier with it if it actually accomplished what it claims it can do on the package. I will, however, continue to use it as one of my sources for saving/backing up our personal photos and videos.

Easy to setup, took me about 5 minutes. It works on it's own and it is easy to find files quickly. My computer runs much fast now that all of my videos and pics are on this system.

Doesn't list as woking with Mac but it works great after you format it. The backup software is for a PC so you won't be able to use that. It can be used vertically or horizontally. I have mine placed flat under and attached to a time capsule which expands my network backup capacity from 500Gb's to 2 Tera bites.

I purchased the product when one of my drives was going bad and everything needed to be backed up quickly. It set up very quickly and easily. The backup was very fast, saving many items which had recently been added or revised. I work at home and this really came through for me.
