This machine has light use in my home. I started getting smudged copies after about 1000 were made; non of the remedies from tech support helped. I requested a new toner cartridge and was denied, although the warranty on the machine is supposed to be 3 years parts, one year labor. I have to buy a new cartridge for about [$].

I upgraded to this model after owning the AL-1655CS for 4 yrs. The old one wouldn't load on my new laptop that has Vista (surprise). The new one gave me some trouble as well, but just when I gave up, it somehow did load. This copier is great out of the box. I do a lot of documents that take standard and legal sheets in the same document. This copier picks the correct sheets automatically and does them 2 sided. It's a no brainer to print the things I need. The duplex couldn't be easier. I looked and looked for a site that sold Sharp and found it at a reasonable price on Staples. It's very user friendly as far as the toner and drum goes too. The display can be tricky, I usually need to refer to the manual, but I've learned to keep it handy and have no trouble. If this one lasts 4 yrs like the last one did, I'll only be spending about $125 per yr for the copier, easy enough to do if you have to keep buying the cheap models and all the ink!

Setup was easy.
Output time is fast once the energy saving settings are reduced.
Scanning is nice - can use the button manager function to send scans to a program, to a network location, or to a local directory.
My only complaint is that the scanner driver/button manager does not work in network mode.

THIS COPIER IS MEETING THE NEEDS OF OUR SMALL BUSINESS. WE MAKE ABOUT 2000 COPIES A MONTH AND IT SEEMS TO BE DOING FINE, WE HAVE ONLY HAD IT ABOUT 2 WEEKS, BUT IT HAS NOT JAMMED EVEN ONCE. THE ONLY NEGATIVE IS IT HAS A WARM UP TIME LONGER THAN OUR PREVIOUS ONE, BUT IT IS NOT THAT BAD. I THINK IT IS A GOOD COPIER FOR THE PRICE.
