Earlier versions of this lamp had two switch selectable intensity settings that were ideally suited for use on a computer desk: low, when you wanted to focus on the display, and high, for going over documents next to the keyboard. This product had the same packaging and physical design, except for the power switch and bulb. This one has only one intensity setting, which I find more or less adequate for document review, but too bright for use with the display. From the packaging (which I should have inspected more carefully), I thought I was getting the same thing I had bought before, but that turned out not to be the case.

Disappointingly not up to the traditional "Tensor" quality reputation except for brightness. Sparse instructions and meager illustrations hindered setup. Clamp is not versatile and should accommodate both horizontal and vertical placement. and clamp will not screw down tightly on thin surfaces, and unfortunate worst "feature" that the clamp base MUST be vertical at 90° or the lamp arm will not stay in place. Simply won't work on a hospital bed frame!
A halogen lamp such as this should include a dimmer or at least high-medium-low settings.
