We have purchased several of these staple removers, and love their design and ease-of-use. But they do not last very long, the part that lifts the staple up breaks due to poorly thought plastic parts for support (or lack there of). If you are using this for a home office, or occasional staple pulling, it would work well. But do not plan on using it consistanly for large groups of papers.

Device is great for easily and quickly removing staples (of which I do a lot).

The problem is that, 4 months after buying it, part of the bottom broke, rendering is useless.

Other than mail order, they're not available in ANY of my local Staples stores.

Well as I suspected, because this is made of plastic, it did not stand the test of time. It cracked as we were pulling out a larger staple from a thick stack of papers (like 1/2 inch thick). I'm going to try the "screwdriver-like" remover with the "rubber handle" next.
I would still recommend this product for pulling out staples from stacks of paper less than 1/2 inch thick. It worked well at the time.

This is a great invention, it will take out heavy duty staples, but if the staples are too big it may break. The bottom holding the puller together should be made out of metal not plastic.

Because of the design, it is not meant for removing staples where there are only a few pages stapled together. The design is such that all it does is lift the top of the staple, and there need to be enough pages that the prong ends will uncurl as they are pulled up. If there's not enough paper, the staple rips the paper. But for bulky documents, this works well.
