I was sick and tired or metal or wood racks for my ever-growing CD collection. This cabinet was the perfect solution for over 1000 CDs that will never have to collect dust or be hidden again.I was cramped for space and it fit perfectly in a narrow hallway near my Bose. The fact that the doors slide instead of open outward is also a great asset for tight spaces. The glass panel doors keep everything dust free and easy to view titles. If asembled properly (i.e.: READ the directions and FOLLOW them), it goes togeher in no time and is quite solid. [...]

The shelves cannot be installed to hold 196 DVDs. This unit would be great for CDs. It would also work for a combination of DVDs and CDs. I bought it for DVDs only and will now need to buy another storage unit to hold the rest of my DVDs.
The unit is very flimsy and not very stable.
I would not buy this again and do not reccommend it.
