I was so pleased with this purchase, at first. I bought it almost three years ago, based on the positive reviews. I use it lightly, opening most drawers just a few times per week.

But then today, I went to the drawer where I save receipts filed by the month, and the little tab you slide to open the drawer broke off. I couldn't open the drawer! And I did not do anything harsh with it, it just popped off.

I panicked. How would I get my things out? This was not the most important drawer, but what if this happens to the drawer where I store my tax files?

I don't feel like I can trust the filing cabinet anymore -- not even the drawers which still work.

Luckily, I was able to finally get it open by sliding a scissors down the side of the drawer that the latch is on, and then jamming the latch open permanently with a small spoon (see photo).

However, I don't feel safe storing items in the filing cabinet which I might need.

I am very frustrated. While this was a reasonable deal, it's not cheap enough to be disposable. And anyway, a filing cabinet is really not something you can put up with just breaking like this -- it can be a real inconvenience not being able to get at your files.

Not very sturdy. Metal is too thin, so panels can be bent too easily. My first delivery arrived dented and bent and had to be replaced. The replacement was also bent such that the top draw opens and closes only with difficulty. Drawers are made of un-enameled metal which could rust.

Nice file cabinet. Works well. Note that it is not the most solid (thick) metal cabinets around, but that also means it is much more movable. And it is heavy and sturdy enough as is.

We did notice that the color of the one we ordered recently appears marginally different from the same one ordered two years ago - whether due to aging or different paint, I don't know. Nothing too bothersome though.
