      Love the Seagate products, have a 1tb and it works flawlessly. Bought the 3tb to back-up my back-up if that makes any sense. The 3tb comes with its own software, don't format or delete it cause you're going to need it if you plan on backing up your internal hard drive from your PC. When you try to use microsofts back-up software it fails, some other software I've used doesn't like it either so there are some issues with the 3tb and playing well with other software applications. Copy and paste and "send to" works fine but trying to use software for back-up other than seagate will cause frustration

      It is a nice large external storage device, what with having 3TB available in a nice tidy package. I can't comment on the included software as I didn't use it. What I bought it for was to use it with the Windows built-in backup. For that use it fails, because the format on the drive, although it is recognized by Windows and you can put files on it - is not compatible with the Windows backup due to the physical sector size of 4096 bytes. This is no where stated on the package and not until you Google the problem do you find those of us who paid for something we can't use for the reason we bought it. In summary, bad on Microsoft for not patching their OS to work with new, larger drives, and bad on Seagate for not telling customers on the package before they buy that it is incompatible with native Windows backup.

        I love how easy this unit is to use and it doesn't crash as easy as the portable ones do. I have owned many hard drives, and this one is awesome. It is easy to use, easy to store, and holds everything I need. The price is great, I was hoping for a cloud storage, but the cost is just too high still, so I stuck with this type of unit and am very pleased.

                Our Apple 1TB TimeCapsule just died so we lost our network and backups. Can I use this HD in conjunction with Belkin N600 DB Wireless Dual-Band N+ Router to back-up our two macbooks over wifi? I know TimeMachine could be configured to backup to different HDs, I want to know if this combination can act as a replacement for the TimeCapsule.

                  This hard drive is compatible with USB 2.0, since USB 3.0 is fully backwards compatible with all versions of USB. However using it with a USB 2.0 link will be considerably slower in data transfers.
