This can't be any easier to assemble. Note that the exterior is not actual wood, but is a very,very thin layer of something else that LOOKS like wood.
The manufacturer recommends attaching to a wall, and has an easy way to do this, but the back of the unit is finished, I did not attach to a wall. It seems stable enough. One odd thing is that there is no solid bottom, so I was not able to attach casters as I had planned. You will need much more glue than was provided for assembly.
Overall, this is not a workhorse, and must be treated gently on the outside, but I feel I got my money's worth.

While this was easy to assemble, the preassembled draw rails came dis-assembled when attempting to put them in the first time. For a build-it-yourself unit, the mechanics are the same as any other similar type of furniture, but found that not all "fit" tightly, even with using a rubber mallet. Bought two and returned the second after assembling the first.

    Good looking and functional. Seems like quality construction. Good working slides. However, not enough clearence for the files once you put hanging file folders and manilla folders in them, the folders wind up scraping. The color is very elegant. Came with spare hardware pieces - Good Idea. The assembly instructions were thorough and the illistrations were very helpful. Simple hand tools were sufficient to get the job done. Look sturdy enough to support weight. I would definately consider product from this company again.

    Wasn't told & didn't think to ask about assembly - assumed this 2-drawer file cabinet would be delivered in 1 piece. Spent 45 minutes with a co-worker to get it done. Not my forte - top drawer doesn't line up well. Disappointed, but it fits the room & looks fine - as long as you don't look at it from the wrong side!

        I was pleasantly surprised that the directions were clear, the parts well marked, the wood of good quality, constructed 'square', and the lock and drawers in good working order. I am a single woman and had no trouble putting it together in about 34 hours. I did have all the necessary tools

            For the Z-Line Designs Vertical File Cabinet the factory installed lock is on the top drawer only and includes 2 keys. The bottom drawer does not lock.
