Print in black and white or in color with this HP LaserJet Pro printer. The printer is capable of printing up to 14 pages per minute directly from saved documents or when operating as a copier. The printer can also perform as a fax for sending and receiving documents, as well as operating as a color scanner to save documents directly to your system.

    Using to replace a photosmart all in one that lived a long hard life. The Laser pro prints more beautifully than I could had hoped for, truly vibrant and sharp prints, crisp documents. On the down side... it's a large unit, heavy, over 50lbs and difficult to reach over/around. It is a loud printer, warming up and printing, anyone that works in an office will know. If you want a quiet printer, this is not for you. For those looking for printers that still offer wired networking, this is it but, they still depend on senseless protocol that disables wireless once you utilize the Cat5 port. I needed to reconfigure the desktops networking to circumvent using the Cat5 port on the printer just to allow those with laptops to print wirelessly and those with tablets to print using e-print.
    E-print is recommended over (and works rather well, slow but well) the HP app specifically linked in the HP installation software.
    It has been about a month since start up and the ink levels are down 10% on the black and yellow toners. I do concede the cost of toner cartridges are considerably more but the frequency of replacement will be the trade-off. It seemed like I was one or another of the six colors in the last photosmart every other week. I was always happy with my photosmart and all my HP printers but after seeing the prints that a HP color laserjet produces, I will never go back.

    I bought this printer because it did everything. All it does is print. It would not read the usb or pick up a fax automatically. My office mates bought the same printer and had the same problems except that they could not fax at all. Good thing I bought the protection plan because there were no remplacements (isn't that telling!) and they returned my money.

          This was extremely easy to set up. I was actually quite surprised. I thought I was only on step 1 but was actually done. I had to connect my laptop during setup but then the wireless worked perfectly. It required no extra steps to print from my iPad. The color printing is magnificent. I have not set up the fax function yet nor have I tried scanning. The only reason I replaced my old HP laser printer is because it was black and white and I wanted color. Also, I wanted the wireless function.

            I LOVE this printer. It is worth the money. I've had it for 2 weeks and use it everyday for my mortgage business so clarity is very important. I have made about 400 copies so far. It scans and prints everything without a problem. I printed flyers and envelopes and have family members while in other rooms wireless printing too. NO FAXING has been done that wasn't my intension. I'm NOT computer literate but set up was soo easy just insert the disc. More expensive than ink cartriges but many more copies with this cartrige so it works out in my opinion about the same cost with great quality.

            Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

                Will this machine fax over a digital phone line?

                  This is somewhat complicated. The M276nw has an analogue fax. Whether it will work for you depends what you mean by a digital phone line and what kind of service you have. Analogue faxes are made to run on plain old telephone service (POTS). If you have VOIP service, like Vonage (or a true digital phone line system), then it will not work. That kind of service does not handle the analogue fax transmission protocol properly. You either have to buy an add on device that emulates a POTS connection to the fax or buy true digital fax machine. If you have what companies normally claim to be digital phone service, then yes it will. Digital phone service of that variety is not really completely digital. The company provides a digital transmission signal to some point in the line, normally to the back of your house. A digital to analogue converter converts the digital signal to POTS. Except for VOIP and true digital systems, every telephone and fax is actually plugged directly into analogue POTS service. The "digital" part is just how it is transmitted from the digital to analogue converter through the phone network. That is why an analogue phone from 1950 will still work when it is plugged into most homes today.
