Have you ever looked at the clock and thought, "Ugh, it's only 2. How am I going to get through the rest of this day?"
Believe it or not the best employees-and the happiest ones-are those who look up at the clock and say, "Whew, thank goodness it's only 2. I'm glad I still have time to get through the rest of my tasks."
Looking forward to your day at the office is smart for you, and obviously beneficial for your employer too. So if you are one of those people who count down the minutes until that proverbial bell rings, it's time to transform yourself. Here's how:
- Talk to your boss about taking on more challenging assignments that inspire you to accomplish something great.
- Spend time with friends who love their jobs, not the people who routinely complain bitterly about work. Enthusiasm can be contagious, just as negativity can be too.
- Take a lunch break. Many days we think we're way too busy to step away from the desk, but a lunch hour (or even 20 minutes if that's all you can steal) breaks up the day, clears your head and recharges you when you get back at your work station.
- Grab a tasty snack that offers an energy boost when your blood sugar is low – think nuts and power bars. Maybe you're actually just tired, not bored.
- Have coffee with a colleague, especially one you'd like to know more about. The more peers you get along with, the more fun going to work will be.
