No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This was only available with VISTA. Vista is not compatible with other programs that I had and did not support the new joystick that I purchased. It has been such a major frustration that I will buy a Mac next time!!!

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I got this [...] and can I just say, wow. This laptop is by far the best I've ever owned. I love the 17" widescreen, others do not compare. I looked at Compaq and HP, but I liked the features, plus the RAM is expandable to a higher GIG, which I like. The computer fan will sometimes come on and off, but I read other reviews that it was typical with this model. Vista is sometimes slow to load, but I have cable internet and I do not notice any particular lag in loading web pages, in fact I'd say it's pretty fast and efficient even on the typically slow web pages. All in all, a great buy!
