This locking cabinet is easy enough to put together and it's about what one might expect for the price. Everything fit together well and all the necessary hardware came with the unit. [...]About the lock: don't expect much. Mine didn't even lock at first, so I adjusted the doors (by hammering on the hinges) which brought the lock bar up just enough to catch the little routed out socket in the bottom of the middle shelf. Once I got it to catch, all it would take was a little gentle downward pressure (one finger would do) to unlock the door. Unacceptable. Eventually I fabricated a metal bar to prevent the lock from disengaging. When I called SouthShore in Canada about this, they advised that I don't store anything in the cabinet of value. (interesting - it's a locking cabinet.)As I mentioned I called SouthShore in Canada. They provide an 800 number on a bright orange tag on the back of the unit. The person that answered was extremely helpful and very nice to deal with. I explained the problems and they agreed to ship out the replacement parts right away, no questions asked. Now that's service! As I said above, I asked about the lock problem and they didn't have a solution for it, so be prepared to beef up the lock if you intend to use this cabinet for storing or securing any valuable items.[...] I have to say my impression with SouthShore was excellent. I wouldn't worry about buying anything from that manufacturer again, as they seem to really care about their end-users. For that, I give them an extra star.

Good price, poor shipping condition

Preferably 2 to work together; but I did it by myself. It has a solid look, but is not sturdy enough e.g. to move on a carpet without lifting, because it will tear the manufactured wood. Purchased for storage in the back of office waiting room. Others will not see it, which is all the well given how it arrived, with the box torn, and the veneered pieces either scratched or scarred from the too tight plastic wrapping tape. Packing was styrofoam that had hundreds of bits and pieces which had to be wiped off of each and every piece, as well as vacuumed from the rug after unpacking. Since it will not be seen by others, and it serves its purpose for clerical supply storage, I chose not to return it. Otherwise, there were too many unsightly damages.
However, it is a good functional piece which looks like real furniture, however, it is mostly pressboard with veneer, and cannot stand up to heavy use. Other than the marred finish, I am satisfied with this product for the price.

Service & Delivery comments:

Arrived in good time after ordering, sooner than expected. Unfortunately, it arrived in a badly torn box, leaking a mess of hundreds of little styorfoam particulates. When unpacked there were many scratches, dents and nicks. So many, that if this was a more expensive piece, or was more in public view I never would have accepted it in such condition. I would recommend this piece only with reservations.

Great armoire for the price. It was easy to put together and the directions were great- it did take some time though and you really do need two people to move it. I've had it for about 9 months and so far so good- Excellent value & I like the fact that it locks.

I bought this because it matched the desk I purchased. Unlike the desk this is not as sturdy. Which surprised me since it's not that difficult to put together. The back panel is 2 pieces rather than one solid one. I imagine that's because of the size of the shipping box. It doesn't look at good as it could when you open the doors and have to see seem down the middle. It does not take away from how nice it is on the outside. The bottom corner on one side had a small scrape from shipping. Since it was the bottom back right hand corner it didn't bother me enough to ship it back. Basically a good buy, more so what you pay for is what you get with this. I would buy it again though. It looks very nice. The picture I posted may seem like the doors are uneven when they are open but they are not. That was something I worried about and thankfully the doors went on easily without needing to be adjusted. For the money this is worth it and I would buy it again.
