I purchased this desk for my son's bedroom. It fits nicely into the corner and leaves much more room than we had before. It was extremely time consuming and difficult to assemble. It is not as sturdy as it looks. I think I would make another choice rather than this desk if I were to do it again.

We bought this for a small space in our home office. Within one year the CPU door and the keyboard has broken off. The writing surface is damaged from one minor spill. The CPU space is too warm for the CPU. And, the desk is too heavy to be moved - whether you are just trying to get behind it to access wires, trying to move it to another space, or trying to get rid of it - which is what we are doing within only one year of purchasing it. We were light users of this desk, and our furniture generally lasts for years. This desk, however, has not.

The desk is very attractive and fits into the corner of a small room well. It has lots of storage space for items which is a plus. I use it in my apartment as a student desk and I am glad that I made the investment because I know that I will have it for a long time. Plus you can't beat the free shipping!!!! I paid to have this assembled by the Staples company Impact and they did have to come back one additional time to fix a drawer that came off its hinge. But since then everything has been fine. I don't think assembly is very easy for this if you are not a handy person.

We were looking for a corner desk to make the best use of a small spare bedroom in my daughter's house that would allow desktop space for her printer and monitor and still have room to do her college assignments. This was the perfect design. We bought a portable CPU stand on rollers and have the CPU under the desk, not in the cabinet. We read the reviews that cautioned about the CPU getting overheated in the cabinet. We use the cabinet for storage of CD-roms, etc. The CPU stand was a great addition. Also, as a result of the reviews, we hired the assembly subcontractor to assemble the desk. He was prompt, courteous, and in less than 2 hours, the desk was assembled in place and looks teriffic. It was money well spent! We are very happy. Thanks for the reviews that allowed us to be prepared, rather than frustrated!

This desk took forever to assemble. Then it all started to fall apart. I just now had to remove the keyboard drawer and put the keyboard on the desk since the drawer fell to the floor. All drawers and door covering PC Unit have been removed beacuse they don't work. It has been the most frustrating piece of furniture I have ever owned. I hate that I spent the money and now will have to buy something else. Don't waste your time and money.

I read all of the reviews before I purchased this product. I will admit, that it does take long to assemble, but that is a given considering the number of pieces that go into a piece of furniture such as this. However, in reading the reviews, I thought people were just putting it together wrong, and that's why the drawers didn't line up. Nope. I was wrong. The drawers don't line up AT ALL! All three of the drawers on the right side of the desk are cockeyed. None of them open smoothly, and if I am lucky enough to get it open, the stupid thing doesn't close. I am very disappointed with this desk, and I wish that I knew what I could do to fix it without spending more time and more money.

The drawers sticks all the time. The keyboard one always flys down. For [$] this should be better put together but after putting this together who is going to return it? Also the wood chips and where you keep the drive gets SUPER hot so I have to keep the door open. The whole thing is a disaster. I hope I stop someone else from making the some mistake I made.

While this product looks nice and has a good design, the constuction and assembly are severly lacking. There are alignment problems in the assembly and pre-drilled holes are loose, therby weakening the unit. There are so many parts some pre-assembly should be done at the factory.

I use this desk for home use, several hours a week at the most. After the first couple of days, the pencil drawer did not latch closed properly and constantly fell open, then the drawer fell out and broke. All the drawers catch and are difficult to open smoothly. None of the drawers align well and from opening and closing, scratches occur at the corners of the drawer fronts. Recently the CPU door front fell off. I am totally unhappy with the construction of this desk, cheap materials used according to my carpenter friends who tried to repair it for me. I am stuck with it, until I can find a better desk that can withstand the everyday use. I received this as a gift for this past Christmas, not even 6 months yet. Bottom line, the product sucks.

I regret having made the purchase of this Bush Birmingham corner desk and the lateral file cabinet.
Although the units are attractive, the desk drawers easily come off track and have to be closed several times to get the drawers to look straight when closed. The metal file guides in the lateral file cabinet are not long enough to hold the weight of the file folders, so the files collaspe upon themselves and it's a mess. Very aggravating. The computer tower overheats in the closed compartment and the tower door cannot be opened when the keyboard drawer is open and in use. Remember when purchasing this desk and/or lateral file cabinet you are really buying a giant kit and not furniture. To say that you have to assemble this is putting it mildly.
Also, be sure to assemmble this desk in the room you will be using it in as it is very difficult to move due to its weight and corner configuration. Additionally, I found the corner unit to take up much more space then I had imagined. But, I have to say that there is lots of room for working and storage with this desk.
Overall, I would NOT recommed anyone to buy this unit. Buy a regular desk and place it in the corner. You will soo glad you did. Oh, and try to purchase a real piece of furniture and not a kit.

We received this desk as a house warming present. This desk is very sturdy. We have a mid-size townhouse so our "office" area is in a common area between the living room and dining room and it fits perfect. We did not put the desk together. We had it put together by the service that Staples offers and it was worth the [$] for someone to come to our house and put it together. Since my husband is not a "handy" man and we have limited tools in the house this was a great option for us. My only issue is the section where the hard drive goes, if you keep the door closed heat builds up in that area. So we are finding that we have to keep the door completely open or partically open. I am consistantly telling my kids be careful of the door. But otherwise it is a great desk. One part had a small scratch and one part felt like the coating was going peel but with a little bit of glue and the touch up pen that comes with the desk, the problems were solved. We have only received compliments about how the desk looks. I believe it was worth the money.

The main reason i bought this is because it was on sale online and it was nice. i read the reviews and thought that i would be able to set it up with little or no difficulity; i'm pretty patience with putting things together IF THE DIRECTIONS ARE WELL PUT TOGETHER AND THESE WERE NOT! there were missing directions and missing holes. my husband ended up putting it together because i got so mad and frustrasted with it. his patience is a lot better than mine and he can put things together by looking at it and not relying on directions. i didn't mind that it had too many pieces or that is was heavy. but what i did mind were the unaligned drawers and repeat pages and lack of missing directions; and they really needed to add words and better pictures. it is nice once u make the adjustments if u know how to.

I don't believe the people who complained about the setup and installation of this desk has had to put together many of these types of furniture pieces. I was able to put it together by myself in an accumulative time frame of about 3 and a half hours. Actually the included instructions were some of the best I've seen for products like these. Like any particle board based furniture, one should take care not to turn screws too tight and follow each step carefully. Each piece was labeled correctly and everything was included. I'm happy with it except for one thing.
One of the drawer fronts (the front face) was not constructed correctly by Bush, the manufacturer. The slot that allows the bottom piece of the drawer was on the wrong side, so basically it would appear upside down with the drawer knob at the bottom instead of at the top. I called Staples and they conferenced in Bush to get a new piece sent to me. Everyone was very helpful. I'd recommend to anyone who needs to conserve room space but needs plenty of desk space. Oh, and being able to use a scredriver and some common sense helps too.

This desk looks awesome when you finally get it put together. My fiancee and I worked together and it still took four hours. There are a lot of pieces and hardware. I recommend having a helper and taking your time to get things right. I did find that the skrews to hold the moulding along the bottmm were too short, but they did stay in with a little glue (included for the dowels) and a lot of cranking them down. Overall, I think it looks great and is going to last us a while. The directions could have used some clear wording (there are no words, only pictures) at a couple of steps, but, like I said, just take your time. Also, don't try and move it yourself. This thing is HEAVY!! :)

I bought this desk to update my home office and love it. I agree with everyone who says how tedious it is to put the desk together (hence 4 and not 5 stars), but once it's assembled, the desk is fantastic for the price! My boyfriend and I followed the instructions step by step and, while it did take us two nights to complete it, the desk came out exactly how it looks online and in-store. The assembly takes time (just put on some music!) and it's a bit difficult to move once completed, but other than that it's not a problem. Obviously it's not the most sturdy desk I've ever seen, but that's why it's not ridiculously expensive! So far I can't seem to understand why people are having such negative experiences and wanting to replace it so soon, but other than the minor cons I mentioned, it's a good deal.

Well, after reading the reviews, I feared what I would receive when it arrived [...] It was not nearly as bad as some stated! Yes, it took a while to put together, but as long as the stepr were followed and the hardware was arranged in their proper bags until used, there was no problem. It was as easy as 1,2,3-25. As long as someone can read and follow instructions, it's a snap to assemble.Of course, if you don't have time (3-6 hours) then pay for the store assembly. Great desk for my child to use for his distance education!

There are about 30 steps to build this desk. It will take roughly 10 min per step. May save you some time if you have a electric screwdriver. Looks great. Seems like it is pretty sturdy but only time will tell. I love the color of the cherry, but cannot afford the real thing. This desk is difficult to move.

[...]desk is not difficult to assemble. Just take your time. If you are not patient you are better off spending more $$ and buying furniture that does not need assembly.Prior to assembly I opened each bag of hardware and kept pieces with their bags (with part #) to help identify during assembly.Having a cordless drill to screw in hardware helps. Take your time. It took my wife and I around 4hrs to assemble. I would recommend spreading assembly out over a few days if you have the time.I would also recommend not securing backer piece 'M'until the drawers are installed. This helps in drawer alignment.I found the most difficult piece to install was the door front 'Z'. Took me 20mins just to align. The only thing I think is missing is a touch-up marker or crayon. From experience this type of furniture will chip over time.Overall I am very satisfied with the desk. Good value for the $$.

This being my first experience in assembling furniture, I was lucky not to have problems with setup / parts. Follow setup instructions carefully. Looks great and fits well. [...] Slightly flimsy, wood quality is average, very heavy and setup is time consuming.

I would definitely suggest that if you are deciding between this desk and another, choose the other one. This one scratches and chips very easy and is also very flimsy. I tried to save money with this route but have now ordered a new desk from HON and am currently waiting for that one to come in so I can throw this desk away. I was so pleased with this desk in the store but once purchased, I became very dis-satisfied very quickly.

Purchased this desk for the wife to replace an old hand-me-down roll top we owned. This wasn't that hard to assemble. I treated it just like a model kit. I went over the instructions more than once just like all the other put-together-furniture I've built the past 27 years. Made a few minor changes. Recut the bottom grooves in the drawers and replaced the cardboard with 1/4 inch hardboard. Did the same to the back of the main unit. Glued ALL the joints for increased strength. BUT I also made this unit easy to move by reverse engineering the assembly. Now, I can seperate it into 6 pieces and move it anywhere I want. I did all this over a period of 3 nights after I got home from work and while watching the CUBS play for the division title. Everyone else that complained were just in a hurry.

Bought this desk back in September to replace an older junk roll-top desk we had. It just wasn't a computer desk, but this one was and was what the wife was looking for. I took my time on this project after building other pieces of furniture like it during the past 27 years. It's just like an over-sized model kit. I built it over a period of 3 nights while watching the CUBS win the Central Division Title, and made only a few minor changes. I recut the drawer bottoms for 1/4 hardboard and replaced the back with the same material. Glued all of the drawers and main cabinet together for added strength. I am amazed at how many people complained. Just goes to show what can happen when you're in a hurry. As to it being hard to move, by FOLLOWING the instructions in reverse, I can disassemble this into SIX SMALLER units in 15 minutes and transport it anywhere I want. Total time for build was about 7 hours and that included the modifications. Advise to others- read the instructions not once but twice. Identify all of the parts and match them all up with the pictures using hi-liters.

This desk was a nightmare to assemble. After reordering and reordering pieces that were split - I finally got in built in about 3 weeks. I would never buy anything that has to be built from [...] again. Invest the money and have it built already.

I was hesitant to make this purchase because of the many many "horror stories" I read on the web reviews.
I have to admit that the setup is somehow involved (2 1/2 hours) and yes, the desk cannot be easily moved... but the instructions are clear and accurate(except for one step, where they indicated the wrong type of screw - an obvious typo) and I didn't have to buy extra hardware or drill extra holes as some reviewers claim they had to do. The drawers can be adjusted so that they don't "catch". The construction isn't "flimsy" - actually, I think that for the price, the materials and design are better than average - the desk looks really good in my home office!

I needed a good desk to put in my home to start working from home. I started looking at desks on the internet and ran across this one. After going to the local [...] store I fell in love with this desk!! It had all of the features that I was looking for (Corner desk, drawer space, large writing area, keyboard drawer). Putting it together was time consuming because of all the pieces, but the instructions manual made the job easy. The finished product was very sturdy and looked great. I do reccommend putting the desk together in the room that you will be using it in if you have small doorways. Overall, great product for around $200. You get your money's worth.
