Not very powerful, bifocal insert is almost too small to use, you have to place your eye 1" from the glass to use it.

For reading fine print in newspapers, magazines and telephone books, this rectangular magnifying glass is better than round ones, at least for me. It is far superior to those large-sheet magnifiers, which are ineffective and blur the print.
Now, if only someone would manufacture a light-weight glass that magnifies a paper-back book page in ints entire width so you don't have the keep moving the glass, that would be a great improvement over any magnifying glass.

It is very handy and has a larger lens for easy use however because of the unusual size, it takes space in storing. But overall, it is a good buy!

The frame around the magnifier broke and I had to buy a 2nd one for my wife. The plastic frame does not lend itself to super glue repair.
