Magnifier isn't magnificant
By Boxster Babe
from Alexandria, VA on 9/15/2008
Cons:
Doesn't magnifiy well, Uncomfortable
Describe Yourself:
Budget Shopper
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
It doesn't work if it is just laying on the page. It has to be held away for the page for the magnification to work. I am a CPA and need to magnify numbers on pages that are laying on my desk.

Good idea, but distortion disappointing
By Senior Citizen Student
from Chapel Hill, NC on 8/7/2008
Pros:
Convenient, Lightweight
Cons:
Distortion frequent, Hard to keep parallel
Best Uses:
Enlarge sections of text
Describe Yourself:
Bargain Hunter, Practical
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I bought the magnifier to read class assignments in small print. It seemed light, and appeared easy to use. I mistakenly thought the print would be enlarged with the magnifier flat on the print surface. But it's not, and if the lens is not exactly parallel above the surface, or the paper isn't lying flat, I find that distortion makes the text just as hard to read as before. Also I'm bothered by the fresnel lines and by glare off the surface. Maybe these things won't bother some users. Or maybe the annoyance would lessen after some practice. Me, I'll continue to squint.
My 80-yr-old mother loves it

It almost works like you want
By Norm the Happy Retiree
from Prescott, AZ on 6/25/2008
Cons:
Must be held above page
Describe Yourself:
Practical
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
If you lay it on the page, it does not magnify it. You must hold it above the page you want magnified. It is a bit large for that. Too bad.

Did not work for the application I had in mind. I thought that I could just lay it down on the sheet I want to view. It turns out it needs to be suspended above the item by about an inch or two.

By Office Blind Person from Dallas, TX on 10/18/2007
Cons:
Needs a stand for support, Needs to be hands-free
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
This product is a good idea but does not work without holding it at least 1 inch away from the printed page. It needs a hands-free stand for the typist in the office to be able to type at the same time you are reading the magnified information.
