Since I can't use the mount that came with the device (California Law) this is an excellent alternative. You can use this an other vehicles without messing up the dash.

We took a 400 mile trip the day after the purchase of this mount. The GPS stayed right on the dash of our Ford Explorer without moving.
The ease of moving location allowed hiding the GPS when at rest stops and restaurants. This base mount is much better than the suction cup mounts I've tried to use in the past.

Garmin kept sliding out of its mooring. Too much reflection to be able to read the Garmin from any position on our dash.

I use the product when driving, does not drop off the windshield or dashboard. Easy to disconnect and put away when car is parked. Unit is rather large and I purchased a smaller one as a gift.

Sets up in 30 seconds. Leaves no marks on dash. Easy to lift off dash and hide GPS under seat or in glovebox, eliminates the need to reach to get GPS off of suction mount sytem. Allows passenger to take GPS to do search without interfering with your driving. Best of all, it does not move at all.

The ball that is be secured to/by the gps claw arm is too small for the Lowrance 600 claw. Had to wrap the ball with multiple layers of duck tape to get a secure fit.
I was skeptical, but am happy.

This is a great product to use with the minivan. It is hard to stick the garmin to window to window because slanted so bad. With this product it sits on the dash. Makes it alot easier to reach and can be moved back and forth so that the passenger can type in it too.

Purchased this item for my vacation, but it doesn't hold the nuvi 200W and it keeps falling out of the unit onto the floor of the car. Not very convenient when you're driving through a major city! I'm not sure if the unit is a tad too large or the holder is too small!
