Good pencil sharpeners give good, long points and can be used to do 5-6 pencils at one time. Most pencil sharpeners do not give good, long points and this one was does not give a quality sharpening.

Buyer beware! The standard pencils we owned didn't fit easily into the opening. Those we were able to insert sharpened in either a lopsided fashion, or with significantly roughened (chewed-looking) wood. We returned this sharpener within days of buying it (and tried out another in the store, in case the first was a lemon - but had the same results).

Since xacto seems to have taken over the pencil sharpener market, I can't get a pencil sharpened well. Panasonic made a great electric pencil sharpener, but I can't find one anywhere since xacto took over. I think your unit was made by xacto or whoever makes them. They destroy pencils rather than sharpening them no matter what you do -- electric or manual.

I thought this product would be good for home use but ended up returning it because it did not do the job well. The motor struggled and had difficulty sharpening pencils from the beginning...and this is just use at home.
Usually Staples brand is better quality than this one. I was very disappointed.
