We use this computer for going on the internet and general family use (pictures, letters, etc.) It's a great setup and at the price was a really good addition to our network!
The wireless signal hardly ever has difficulty and while the internet downloads aren't instantaneous, they are usually within a reasonable amount of time.
We would buy this computer again.
This is my first portable computer.

I like the "Big Screen" and the speed I have with the wireless connection. I didn't like having to buy the word processing software. I feel the virus protection should come with it also. HP should offer various software packages as a discount to go with each new computer.

Read all the reviews and decided that for the price I couldn't pass this computer up. Between the in store sale and [$]rebate from Stables it was a steal at [$] I've had it for over a month now and it's far exceeded my expectations. I've used it for surfing the web, online gameing, and for college work. The wireless set up was very easy. I pulled it out of the box and was surfing the web about 15 minutes later. Spent a little bit of time removing unwanted programs but other than that I have zero complaints.

With Vista, my old scanner, etc. did not work, despite attempts to rectify on Internet. New "Vista ready" scanner also did not work. Also too much software junk, which seems to slow everything down. The computer does have some nice features, though, and should be offered with XP as an option, as Dell does with some of its units.

This is my first personal laptop & I'm very pleased with it. Performance is great. So far no problems with Vista as I had read in other product reviews. I would have preferred a little more advanced graphics processor but it is still more than acceptable for most of what I will do. The 17" widescreen is great for viewing but might be larger than you would want if you transported your laptop every day. Great desktop replacement that you can also take along. Came with good software package. All in all it's a great laptop for the money. Since it's for personal use I researched a lot to get the most for my money & I thank Staples Weekly Deals & Rebates for making this one possible for me. Love it!

This is my first laptop, and I'm really impressed with how easy this computer is to use. I use it for internet research and surfing, watching movies, and writing papers for my college classes. The only drawback (which isn't, really) is the size and weight. It is a little heavier than I thought, especially put into a bag with the accessories. Hard to find a good selection of laptop bags for the 17" size also.......

Very heavy so not good for travel. The problems I've had with my HP has more to do with the Vista Operating system then with the computer itself. Suggestion: Save your work frequently, you never know when Vista is going to do an update and restart your computer with no warning.

I got this for my wife for college. The fullsize keyboard and keypad make schoolwork a breeze. The built in wireless has nice range as well. The screen is crisp and very large, I had to adjust the touchpad tracking speed way up the screen was so big.
So far no real issues other than the large size which is more of a + than a -.
It also stinks that companies have gotten away from providing copies of the OS and drivers.
Why not at least supply the OS for "WHEN" you have a hardware failure.

I can't find anywhere that tells you the functions of all the buttons and icons. There are no icons for camera or any reference to camera in the Quick reference hence I can't even turn camera on. The computer it's self is slow. The games are dull in color and hazy. I feel this is not a user friendly computer. It may be fine for some one that is a professional.
