I had to replace my previous Palm due to battery problems, however, now I am very happy with this new device.
I can't expect much from a device this size, but it outdoes the competition. Enough said.
It stopped working and could not get it to sync.
I was very disappointed when the screen bled from within making it impossible to see anything. Then when I called to have it repaired the price was far to expensive. It would be more profitable to buy a new device, and I did.

There are too many error messages. It was not compatible to my old palm pilot.
The cover was not as nice. I have had to reenter all my information from my old palm. I lost all my games. Not a product I would recommend. Limited tech support

palm is not intuitiveinstructions & interface are not user friendlypalm has not improved either since the tunsten model we bought 5 years agocould not get it to sync with computerThe on line tech support could not get the palm tx to work properly & refused to admit device might be defective [...] Would not recommend palm to anyone Tried 2 on line troubleshooting sessions to resolve problem, one of 1hr 10 min duration, without successcould not get answer to question "can the palm be sync'ed to more than one computer"also got conflicting answer regarding data tranfer from old handheld to new palm & different computeroften long delay between typing question & getting answer, as though "tech" was looking up answer (or tranlating?)

It discribed itself as Outlook compatible but it was a nightmare to get it to link. I had to take it back. Now I'm having to look for another handheld that has Outlook on it rather than one that is 'compatible'.

I'm a nurse anesthetist and have been using a Palm for the past eight years in adjusting my patient's anesthesia needs as compared to their daily medications. With a special program, my Palm helps me avoid adverse reactions to the mix of fast acting agents used with a patients normal meds.

Large screen is good; I dislike the tiny screens on the Palm phones. Screen rotation very nice for viewing spreadsheets in Docs2Go.
Search crashing ("Find") is why I moved off my Zire 72s; very disappointing to have same trouble on the T/X.
Miss the camera & voice recorder from my Zire 72s.
Some of my favorite apps don't work on the newer PalmOS, sigh.
Don't recommend switching unless your old Palm is dead. It's definitely better than no Palm.

This is my second one. No problems with fist, it just wore out! I love the T/X.

I replaced my old Palm m515 with this jazzy version, selecting the Palm platform because I love the Palm desktop. I couldn't believe that it won't sync with Vista! I primarily use my desktop computer which is Windows XP, but would like to keep my laptop in the loop as well, and it's Windows Vista. I have to purchase a bluetooth adapter to make it sync with the laptop. Can't understand why Palm hasn't come up with a fix!
I love the wireless capability and the big, bright screen. It does require reset an awful lot, though. In fact, it often freezes when placed in the cradle for sync. Once reset, it works OK, but it's a pain to have to do this all the time.
I like this Palm, and am not sorry I bought it, but if you aren't married to the Palm desktop the way I am, I'd suggest you look at other PDAs before making your buying decision.
downloaded info for work so that I would have easy access to it

I know everyone is trying to combine appliances and make a phone / pda / dvd / microfridge, BUT you really can't beat this product for all that it does for the price. Put it in a case and you have a much more durable product than the smart phone. The web browser is a great feature for the price!

The main thing I dont like about it was the internet browser cannot display huge pages, example long forum posts will get the "page is too large to display" message. The browser is slow and loading ms documents is slow. Speaking of them it doesnt save the column width of Excel docs, in order for it to remember I have to open the file inside Excel, change them then it will display them right. Other than that it's great.[...]
Software computer interface designed for XP and palm update software download for Vista is problematic for me and my son-in-law who also has one.
Palm website has many useful software titles. Retail stores appear to be phasing these devices out in favor of phone/PDA devices. Software in NJ hard to find except online.

The only good thing i can say is that mine quit working within two weeks so I got my money back. The screen quit responding so I couldn't do anything. I was very disappointed. My Sony that I got 7 years ago is still working, however this one worked fine for 5 days before all of a sudden the touch screen no longer worked.

WHY Palm would equip this device with only Wireless B, and not G when the ENTIRE WORLD is now using G is beyond me. When the geniuses at Palm are sitting around the boardroom, wondering why they are going bacnkrupt, they can look back to idiot decisions like this, slap themselves on the forehead and go, "oh yea!"

The Palm Graffiti 2 hand writing recognition software is not as good as the original Graffiti from the Palm V era. Yes, I know some of the character strokes changed and yes I know that this was to improve the use of the handheld. I buy in to that. But the Palm T/X makes it hard to use. It is like the application software and Graffiti full screen use cause conflict.
Also, many characters just don't get recognized even when the visual stroke shows it is the letter I wrote. I have been using Palm devies for over 10 years and was very good at writing on the Palm. This device just plain sucks on the Graffiti integration.
I will still use the T/X because I have to; I am tied to several palm apps that I really like. And I do like the blue tooth synch (no more cables!) but Graffiti just makes using the device a big pain, no fun, a dread to pull out to capture info.

I like the new home page a lot, with current day and upcoming appointments and tasks shown. I like the Documents to go software, ability to switch from Portrait to Landscape display, and Multimedia capabilities so far.

This unit would not sync properly with Outlook 2003. Say you change an appt. from 9:00 to 10:00 in Outlook and then do a sync. On the handheld, you'll see the appt. appear at BOTH times, instead of making the change. How useless is that? Tech support didn't have a clue - just told me to do a hard reset and start over, which did nothing. My very first Palm Pilot was far more useful. If you buy this unit, make sure the store has a good return policy, then try the test I've described.

The TX is agreat unit, I did have to get downloads from the internet to make the TX work with my new computer that has ( vista ) it is more for windows xp, there is a download for vista for hot synk. the battery could last a bit longer when on the internet otherwise it's fine. I'm still very pleased with my TX. you can plug an adaptor into the headphone jack that has left and right phono jacks on the other end, plug it into your surround sound and rock and roll to your favorite music.

I have had PDAs since they started. I have had the M515, Tungsten E1, E2, Treo 600, this is by far the best one. The fact that you don't have to carry a monthly subscription, you can use it wirelessly at home, office, at the coffee shop. The only thing I miss is the slash bundle that came with the Tungstens. This one works well with the quicken products, ereader, diet software, mobipocket. Microsoft Word Excel and Powerpoint. It uses the time feature from the E1 and the login feature from the E2. It is like the best from all the different products. You need to see the slideshow that uses the whole screen including the area you used to write in.

I have had mine for about two weeks now & previously had no knowledge of PDA operations. I read hundreds of web based reviews, primarily those of consumers, prior to making my purchase as well as researching other devices which included GPS functionality built in. The only common issue I found amongst my research was that it sometimes reboots itself while working. I found this to be true with mine but the process is extremely fast & not at all bothersome. I was a little hesitant prior to my purchase in regards to the wifi connection only being "b" & not "g" as other manufactures offered & having to learn a new non windows based operating system. I was pleasantly surprised to see the wifi "b" connection to be be much faster than I anticipated. There are hundreds of compatible, useful, & entertaining software titles available & more continue to be developed & improved. The Palm TX can also easily be used as a GPS unit by purchasing a bluetooth receiver & compatible software. If you do not have access to network for your Palm via wifi or bluetooth & are not allowed to install the Palm desktop in regards to a CPU you need to transfer data with you an simply use a memory card reader & transfer data via the SD card or use the SANDISK SD/USB drive as an easy problem solver. Product displays pictures very nicely, I have not yet tried video or MP3. Synchs very easily with Windows XP, looks like patches are available for some functionality with Vista (specs also state not compatible with XP Media Center but I have also installed my Palm software on my Media center PC & have experienced NO compatability issues). Although this model only comes with a 90 day warranty from Palm you can purchase a service plan at a very reasonable price & have multi year coverage. I like this product so much I have purchased one for my 16 year son for a Xmas gift with anticipation for use when he goes to college & can carry his text books electronically & not have to lug a laptop around. The touch screen & graffiti features are pretty cool too. Get the hard carrying case so you don't hate your self if you drop it. When you register your product with Palm they will email you a discount coupon for purchase of acessories or software. Great value, get one & enjoy it!
One more plus, this unit has been in exsistance long enough that there are lots of forums available for questions & advice if needed.

This great product works great with Wi-Fi. I use it at home/work using my wireless router/server. Also being able to listen to music through pocket tunes deluxe[$] helps me save storage by converting my music into WMA files. Being able to take your important documents from work, home and finishing them through Documents To Do. Using Google Earth on your Palm device is another great way to take Google on the Go (Wi-Fi connection needed). Finally, if your Palm T/X resets continuously, you'll know that the stuff is safe via backup (on your home computer). Just be sure to delete the problem before hotsyncing again. Everything you do is backed up (Everytime you hotsync). Now that's comfort.

Since I've purchased the device, I've had to return it twice for defects. Less than 30 minutes after setting up the device, the resolution dimmed and I could barely read the screen. Later I found out the data sync did not work. If you do not get insurance, you need to thoroughly test the product within 30, 60 or 90 days before the warranty expires. Without insurance, they will charge [$] for any technical support regardless what your quesion is. I would provide some pros but I haven't had a chance to play with it because it's still being repaired.

I have not found any negatives with this product. Comuntcation between computer and Palm is great. The Palm is fast and does everything a person would want in a handheld device. I would recomend this product.

I was more interested in its wifi capability. I didn't want to spend money for subscription service for a Blackberry. I got this PDA to work at my org's wifi and able to synch with our Exchange server wirelessly.

I love using this product for keeping my weekly client schedule, lists of tasks, grocery lists, checking the web and email. The only complaint I have is there are limited wifi phones that are currently compatible with the T/X for accessing the web.
[5 of 5 customers found this review helpful]
Chose the T/X when it was time to replace the M515 (battery did not hold charge long enough). Looked at the current offerings and was not overly impressed as I really did not want a phone with my PDA. Decided that it was useful to have WiFi and BlueTooth so chose the T/X rather than settle for something less.
I am happy with the communications connectivity, but it is getting harder to find free public WiFi places where the T/X can be handy. Still they do exist and can make checking the web or getting email possible. I also use the BlueTooth connectivity to hotsync with my work computer rather than use a second cable.
I have tried using BlueTooth to send SMS messages through my Verizon phone, but as is typical with Verizon they have disabled that feature via the standard BlueTooth protocol (still looking for a way around that one).
