I've used many DVD's over the past 5 years - Sony, Verbatim, Memorex, HP, Kodak, etc. I use about 350 DVD's each year for work and personal use. I bought these Playo DVD-R's when Staples had them on sale (something like[$] for 60 after rebates). Even [$] was a waste. I was lucky to get 10% to burn - the rest were coasters. While others may have better luck, My Sony DVD burner could not make good use of these discs. Next time I'll gladly pay [$] for 100 Sony DVD-R's on sale.

I use Playo blank dvds to record movies and for backup. When this product is on sale, you can't beat the price after rebate for 60 disk spindls.I Bought 300 disks, (5 spindles), and used everyone.I had some burning issues, but I truly don't belive they were the disks, rather system related.I gave it 4 out of 5 stars, there is always room for improvement.[...]Graphics and IT Professional.

I've been using these discs exclusively ever since [...] started offering the rebates on them and I couldn't be more pleased. I get better results with less wasted discs with Playo DVDs than with any of the name brands I've used in the past. I have burned at least 800 of these and average 1 bad disc out of every 30. To the people who have complained of bad discs might I suggest that it is perhaps your burner or software causing failed and slow burns because they work great on my Intel MacBook and G4 Mac with Pioneer burner using Toast to burn with. Great discs at a great price, I highly recommend them to anyone.

The low price of the product is reflected in the number of "coasters" that were produced. This is annoying from the costs that were both financial (cost of the product) and wasted time (having to redo a recording). [...](Let the buyer beware!)

Previous reviews plus the extremly low price had me convinced these discs were of low quality. What a surprise to burn more than 200 at the full 16x speed without a single coaster - using 3 different burners. Haven't found any problems reading them in any device yet either.

These comments apply to the Playo 16x DVD-R 60 pack spindle that are media coded MCC03RG20 (though probably not true Mitsubishi media). I have burned through an entire spindle at this point with zero coasters. I'm using two drives, the BenQ DW1650 and DW1655. My burn statistics rate "good", similar to Verbatim MCC03RG20 coded disks I have. Not the best burn statistics, but definitely solid, these will play on any drive or set top player. A few did take 12 minutes to burn at 8x (should have taken about 9 minutes), but this is minor. They have burned well at 16x and 12x, actually better than true Verbatim media, but I prefer the slower burn speeds. I have also re-scanned 6 month old burns and they have held up very well with insignificant degradation--better than most other media. The claimed 30 year archive life is probably true. I can't speak for the DVD+R media (reported to have an MCC004 code), but these are well worth it when they are on rebate. At full price, I'd look elsewhere and give them 3 stars, at the bargain prices they can sometimes be obtained at, a full bright shining 5 stars.

With media there is quite often a big difference in media quality from disc to disc. You may also find that sometimes the whole disc cannot be recorded to without major dips in the transfer speed. Playo DVD’s are ultra-budget level media. I have tested these discs on various DVD burners and they are never able to burn at the stated top speed and I have gotten a number of failed burns (coaster discs). A good general rule when purchasing media discs for your computer is to stay away from the “Made in China” media. They are the lowest quality discs you can find.
