The two SanDisk flash drives I own (1GB & 2GB) perform very well. The eject function of U3 is all I use. Otherwise, I find U3 superfluous. It also uses too much memory. The ready boost function also seems to be a memory hog. In general, these drives are not Vista ready. (It is not that I find Vista that wondereful. Vista was preloaded on my computer and is what I have to work with. I applied the SanDisk patches for Vista. The drives really seem to work better and faster with XP on my old computer.)

Two of these units failed on me in three months. The Cruzer Titanium unit had a much longer lifespan in my time using it, I'd recommend paying extra for that model.

I did not realize that this flash drive came with additional programs which take up valuable storage space. These can be deleted, but I am reluctant to do this in case I mess up something. When I eject it as I do with my other flash drives, I get messages that I may have damaged content by not ejecting through the U2 system. I was just looking for a simple flash drive.
It is a great product to buy.

It is a good product, easy to use and no caps to lose. The only problem I have encountered so far is that it retracted when I was inserting it into the USB port.

I had copied some files, got to work, and could not transfer them. The body of the flashdrive was too wide, and hit the front of the case before I could get it all the way plugged in.

I use my flash drives to store the photos I take on my digital camera. This prevents overloading my hard drive with too many bytes. It also allows me to free up memory on my digital camera. Flash drives are portable so the "photos" can travel with me wherever I go.

I use this mainly to transfer pictures from laptop to desktop. I loved the retractable idea. Too bad it doesn't work that well when I attempt to connect it in a USB slot that is over or under another USB slot that is in use.It is not an easy fit for my fingers to hold the retractor and insert in USB slot. Most of the time it retracts back into case and the computer gets confused - locks up or crashes or admonishes me for ejecting a "drive" without permission. I would recommend because of the "no cap" detail with a "hold on tight" caveat.

This is a great product.. the only thing is when you want to print something in school in between periods your going to need more time than you expect. When you plug this product into a computer that you haven't plugged it in before, it goes through about a 5 min setup process... which in my case is the amount of time to transfer between classes...
It is definitely a great buy!! its slow setup during rush times is its only downfall... But other than that is comes with many useful softwares and has a huge 2.0 GB storage amount.

why would they put moving parts in a electrical device. This will eventually fail. Any one who has ever used a light switch can see that point can you chance losing info?
Buy the one with no moving parts. Sandisk makes very good products. This one may be nice at start but be carefull with your data

The Cruzer loads some software that enables shortcuts to moving files and data, which are quite useful. However, some of the jargon and symbols used are confusing and could easily lead to damaged data. Move slowly and you are ok. Have managed to max it out only once and warning message was very clear. Good product.

I like the sliding open/close, though it does tend to collect dust in my briefcase. It was on sale, so the price was right for what it is.
However, the major issues I have with this device are that 1) it installs initializing software on my computer, which takes forever to load each time I use it. I must wait... and wait... and wait... for it to initialize before I can even see the drive contents. It actually takes a few minutes (no exaggeration) between when I insert it and when I can add files to it. Had I known about this time-suck, I would not have bought it. I like a flash drive to work, well, in a flash! I need to be able to quickly and conveniently store data and other files.
