I use this product to store Digital Voice Recodings of my students. It is easy to use and file set-up is a breeze. I have several of the SanDisk brand and never buy anything else. There is no need to format the drive like other brands. I, however, do not like the U3 system piece. It can be an annoyance.

This dog adds its "power boost" program to every computer you plug it into, without asking. The in-your-face program is a shill that tries to get you to download and buy 10 or so other programs. This hidden program has no "uninstall", and can be removed from computers only by downloading and running a WinXP program from the SanDisk website, after disconnecting everything. OUTRAGEOUS.

I still really don't get the U3 operating system native on the Cruzer series flash drives, but as far as the actual hardware goes, there is no better utility flash drive. Period! This is my sixth Cruzer, as I started transferring files and backing up on them when they were a mere 512MB. I have tried others, and never been satisfied. My favorite feature is that the USB connection disappears into the robust Cruzer case, so you don't have to worry about caps or bending it. Simply put, these are the best.

I back up my work on to my flash drive. I like this one because it is retractable...no cap to loose! I've used a 512mg SanDisk flash drive for over a year...it has never failed me - I appreciate the quality of the SanDisk products.

I agree with some of the other reviewers that the drive is so light that it seems like it might break easily, but it has not so far. The only downside I have found is that the plug wants to retract back into the body of the drive when plugging it in, as there is no locking mechanism. Once again, due to the appearance of fragility I get a little nervous holding the slider button tightly while shoving the drive into the USB slot. I overcame this obstacle by using an "extension cord" for USB drives I already had and just leaving this cord on all the time. I do like that the drive has a little light that turns on when it is powered. This light then goes off when you tell the computer that you wish to remove the device. Light does not go off when ready to unplug on all computers.

A retractable flash drive is the only one that has failed me. IF I had known that this one was retractable, I would not have bought it. I returned it to Staples and purchased a 4Gig non retractable flash drive.
