I really like the easy use of it while transferring files and back up. It appears to be large enough for most files on back-up system.
The small size made it easy to transport to other areas for use. The only negative was too many files for complete transfer at one time. Had to make two passes to transfer all files.

Love it otherwise and figured out a work around the large file size.

I've used a 2GB Cruzer for about a year with no problems, so when I saw this price for the 1GB ones I bought a bunch for school. So far they've been reliable and easy to use. I have no use for U3 (it doesn't play nice with some programs anyway), so I reformatted them and freed up that extra space for just plain storage. Very happy with them so far.

Added software features known as U3™ functionality are useless in Macintosh computer and would force the user to manual elimination to regain the size of memory. Also the LED light doesn't give any feedback to communicate to the users which may create some form of distraction. Other than that, it works fine.

This device created lots of problems when I recommended to somebody to just get "any" USB flash disc. The plastic bezel around the plug was too large for the machine it was to be used in, which meant a file could not be transferred as needed. The locking mechanism for the retraction takes getting used to, and until you figure it out, it just retracts when you try to plug it in. Any what good is the retraction? With no cover, it isn't doing much to keep contaminants out of the connector. When put into a PC, it comes up as two drive letters that can confuse a novice user as to which to use. It pops up software install and upgrade requests that are even further confusing to a novice user, and distract from the job at hand of moving files around. The only good thing I can say about it is that the software includes a feature to permanently disable the second drive letter and accompanying software, so if you are computer savvy it can be turned into an ordinary memory stick. With so many options out there, I would skip this one, and purchase a more generic model that doesn't try to do you as many "favors".

I feel like it's going to fall apart everytime I put it in and remove it. I click on the icon and choose prompt that says 'eject'. The light on the drive goes out and i remove it. When I go to remove it after the next use, I'm told I didn't remove it properly. This happens from time to time. I;m going to return the one I never used.

Being just a step above technically challenged, it's great that you just plug this into the USB port and copy your file to the Flash Drive and you are done. Most computers recognize that you've plugged in the Flash Drive and sets it up for the information transfer. Pretty good stuff!
Oh yeah, the fact that it's retractable is great cause you don't have to worry about where you left the cap; or wether or not the gunk in the bottom of your purse is gonna get trapped in it and render it inoperable.

I am disappointed in this product. My first SanDisk was sturdy, had a cap and a strap for safe keeping around my neck. The so-called security programming makes the device difficult to use and takes up space I would like to use for my files. The flimsy construction makes me wonder how reliable it will be down the road. The light remains on rather than extinguishing when it is safe to remove the device from the USB port.

After a search, I found a Kingston DataTraveler without the programming. It isn't as sturdy as my original SanDisk (which is lost or was stolen), and it does not have a cap, but it is easy to use. And the light goes out to indicate when it is safe to remove it from my USB port.

I wish SanDisk would revert to the original design. Some of us like simple, sturdy, and reliable.

Item contains embedded software that boots every time. You can turn off the auto boot but if you clear/erase the drive the contents of the "system folder" that has this information is emptied and the software auto loads again. very annoying. Thankfully I got the item cheap (recycled 3 ink cartridges). Confusing to those who don't use computers much (i.e. Grandma).

I often have either files I want to transfer to another computer (home to office) or a friend wants something I have on my computer. The San Disk makes it so easy to transfer and it's fairly quick, easy to carry for sure, and seems to hold a lot!

The retractable USB port proved to be difficult for me. My hands become weak from time to time and holding the slide firmly wihle inserting the drive into a port was hard at times.
