I purchased this product for my parents. I currently own a Garmin Nuvi 200, so I bought them the 200W. I most like the Garmin Nuvi series because of their ease of use straight out of the box. My parents are technically challenged so this was a good fit.

It took a while to learn how to use it and it did quite well. On our 5500+ mile cross country trip it twice gave us directions onto dead end roads and it did not always give the shortest route. So even though it's great to have, you still need to use your head.

I traveled halfway across the country and it helpded me get to specific addresses, even if I left the road. I do wish there was a setting to say highway only, as I had a motor home, and could not go on some of the backroads that it suggested.

The nuvi usually takes twice as long as previous models to acquire enough data to begin tracking. Updating is undesireably slow. Turns can be missed while it is calculating the 'new position'. Re-routing is impressive when you do miss a turn. The included info for lodging, meals, etc., is good with up to date phone numbers and addresses. The battery is generally good for no more than four hours, the vehicle power cable is a must. The nuvi does not come with a USB cable, which is required for registering the product. It must be purchased seperately. Updates are huge and is best to pay the 'handling' fees to get the the DVD. It does not support dead-reconing so if you want to know the Lat/Long, tough. The best part....you can turn the stupid '3D' display off, which is slower than molasses in Siberia, and go 2D. Overall, it's a nice toy, does work, but needs far better software and apparently a receiver that can hear the satellites.

We already own a Garmin and even though it is reliable (most of the time) it was flimsy and not very durable. My wife purchased the Nuvi 200W because she heard that the newer models now offered traffic reports to avoid congestion. The salesman told her that this model definitely had that feature and was exactly what she was looking for. He was wrong and my wife is now wondering if the guy was desperate to make a sale or just acting like he knew what he was talking about. Either way we have to return it and waste time and fuel to correct a wrong purchase.

I've wasted alot of money on expensive gadgets in the past.I would use them a few times then throw them to the back of my closet when they did not live up to their promises.
I can tell you first hand that I had no buyers remorse after purchasing this unit. It's fast easy to read display & controls makes anyone who is navigationally challanged into a seasoned explorer.
Although not as intuitive as I would like it to be the Garmin nuvi 200w always got me where I needed to go.It has never let me down yet.
Forget the other brands and buy this thing, you won't be disappointed.

The only negative is it won't find rural addresses unless they have a street number. You can't use RD 1 Box 000. Had fun with it going to Florida. Found great eating places and places of interest that we didn't even think of. The only problem we had going to Florida is that it didn't pick up the fact that a new exit was in existence ( 2 exit roads were changed 2 yrs ago).

We went on a trip to a totally unfamiliar area. Nuvi led us 1330 miles, right to the door. The best part was on the interstate. It gives a one mile ahead heads up on "stay left" or "exit right" so you don't have to try to watch traffic, read the signs, and change lanes at the last second.

This GPS worths with its value. It is very easy to use and has a clear display. However, it does not have the street name for turning.. It may not be the issue for this model. The Germin 260w has this option. The only compliant that I have was that sometimes it did not recognize the toll way route at the beginning. For example , we drove through Chicago to Indiana, it kept telling us to use HWY 94, but the HWY90 is faster although we setup to use the faster route..
Other than that, it is a very good GPS.

We like it though it can give some really odd directions (this is especially true with smaller towns). There's been a couple of times where it would tell me I was at my destination and my destination was actually through the woods or on another side of the street. Other than that it really is good for general directions, its also good if you take another route and will recalculate your route for you.

First off, I'm no road warrior. All I was looking for in a GPS was some added confidence for our long distance trip to Western Tennesee/Eastern Arkansas area. The Nuvi 200 WS did the job with ease particularly around Memphis with all of its tourist stops. Menus were easy to step through and on-screen data easy to see. And, it slips into a pocket when you stop so that evil folks won't break through your window to get it.

Was impressed with the amount of Points of Interest that accomdated gas/food/rest stops along the way.

Was also impressed with the speed in which it acquired satellites.

So far as cons go, there really aren't any. I plan on using the device as a map, not as a dialer for my cell or as an MP3 player. Announcing everything in English (text to speech) would be nice, but I intentionally kept my cost down to get a wide screen unit. If that's important, spring the extra $$ to get it.

I use my Garmin a lot. The kids go to different doctors, so I am need of a lot of directions. Just put the address into my Garmin and off I go. It has made geting around town and other places so much easier. I use it for work too when I have to run errands. I wish now that I had bought one sooner. It is a little slow in acquiring satellite but I have figured out when I need to turn it on so that it is ready just at the right time. I like mine so well that I bought one for my mother for mothers day.

She sometimes tells you to turn right when you should turn left, or vice versa, but the map display is accurate. Always verify the display directions. And she doesn't always pick the best (fastest) routes and if she has a particular course in mind and you deviate, she will continue to try to get you back on the course you deviated from, regardless that it would take more time than the current path.

This is an absolutely amazing product for the simple fact you get so much for a fraction of the cost of other similar systems. It is amazing how easy it is to use, even when your in the middle of nowhere with traffic everywhere. The only problem that I have found is that it is slow upon startup to connect to the satellites. Once connected, I have never lost signal. I have went from Little Rock to Atlanta, to Chicago, then Memphis and back to Little Rock. Two words: Simply amazing.

I love my GPS. Great unit for the money! It was fun to play with at first (like I can't already find my house from work - lol) but has come in handy several times. My only problem is my location and acquiring a satellite when I start out from home. Once I am out of town, I can pick up a satellite just fine. I don't think there is any problem with the unit.

Easy to use, and the unit is very accurate. However, the volume control is a bit difficult. You have to go into a different screen and disable or mute the sound, which is an issue while you are driving and talking on the phone. Other Garmin products have a volume control which makes it easier. Overall, this is a good unit for the money, and I would recommend it to others.
