Pros:
Compact, Easy To Set Up
Cons:

Best Uses:
Finding Specific Address, Urban Navigation
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I drive a lot in my work and must rely on this technology. My car moves faster than the unit acquires the signal, which means I am often beyond a turn before the unit tells me I should turn. Having to use a stylis rather than finger touch is annoying. Many streets I need to go to are not recognized by the unit, and some cities. I have had the unit 11 months and it has now crashed completely. There is no way to update the system so that it recognizes new streets. You would be better off to spend a little more and get a better unit.

Cons:
Flimsy Mounting
Best Uses:

Bottom Line:

Remarkably precise in real time- which really helps one prepare for complicated turn sequences and give real piece-of-mind in new locales. Works well in Cambridge and Boston where roads are poor, signage is even poorer and drivers are... Suction mount was useless- I adapted a beanbag type mount instead. I like the SD card map distribution, which allows nice customization on a PC, but have twice had the unit not launch, requiring an SD card reload of the program. 8gig SD cards, coupled with mp3 & mpeg4 functionality, is great!

I purchased unit about 8 months ago. I"ve sent back for repair 3 times at my expense at about $10.00 per time.(invion requires ins and return request). I've asked for a new unit since they have had the unit more than me(average time for past repair 4 to 6 weeks) and it seems they cannot repair the unit properly.

Slow to start up. Told us us to go the wrong way on the highway more than once. Does not reconfigure alternate route quickly. Always tries to put one on a highway even if it is a much longer route. Once had me go more than 50 miles out of the way when a more direct route was available, even on a highway. Don't buy this product!!

Did the research, this seemed to have better features than comparable price units, and it does!
Clear screen, intuitive design.

It needs a good charge before attempting to use and load info the first time. It didnt want to save anything until charged, but loads and saves fast now. We're impressed ! It has better features than we expected.

POI use not good

Pros:
Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy To Read
Cons:
Difficult Menus, Inaccurate
Best Uses:
Finding Specific Address
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

If searching a POI without using specific address it shows POI's that are further away at the top of the list and then close and then far again. Tried this with different catagories and had similar results. I tried gas stations and it didn't show the one a block away that has been there for 20 years. I took back and got a Garmin Nuvi200. It performs perfectly.

Dangerously unreliable

How long have you owned it:

Primary use:

Pros:
Compact, Easy Menus, Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up
Cons:
Acquires Satellites Slowly, Flimsy Mounting, Inaccurate, Short Battery Life
Best Uses:
Faster Routes
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros:
1) Locates Gas stations when you badly need them!!
2) Precise Geo-matching, accurate to a foot!!!
3) Nice for simple routes or when you missed your planned route or local roads with several turns.

Cons:
1) Unreliable, hangs when you really need it.
2) Crashes in complicated routes or hangs.
3) At times just points your location accurately, forgetting to route.
4) Always falls down from mount, SD cards pops out occasionally

It slowly gets signal, but once gets signal, it is accurate to a foot. It clearly knows which lane of the road you are in, not just the road. Though it locates with surgical precision the software hangs or routes you wrongly.

I use it only when I am lost or need to find neaerst Gas station. That works perfectly (and luckily ) then. In my Las Vegas trip it drove me crazy, asked me to turn in sand roads to hell. I understood it became crazy and drove to hotel by guessing the route. Once I turned inside the hotel area it announced 'You have reached your desitnation' :-)

Hardware is awesome! Easy hackable. WinCE+ somewhat strong 400MHz CPU makes it really great item for the money. So far no complications. The unit came in with preloaded Destinator6 (on SD/CD) which is the desired software update everybody spoke about before. Screen is bright, battery lasts, interface decent. I guess that's all you need... A good toy for techno geeks!

InVion GPS-4V106 Product review It’s worth ever penny and more! After reading GPS product specs [...] I decided to purchase the InVion-4v106. I then read some very negative reviews, but as I read on it seemed those who purchased the 4v106 more recently and with the Destinator mapping software really liked the unit.I purchased the InVion GPS-4V106 with the thought that if I didn’t like it, I would return it within the two week trial period. After purchasing the unit I found the instruction manual less than satisfactory. None of the set-up options I selected stayed, I had to go though the set-up options ever time I booted the unit. I was about to return it when I called the CA customer service office for InVion. I was told the wait time was more than I had time for and called back several hours later. This time I got a service tech on the phone right away. Guess what, all of my problems were my own as I locked the SD card right after I made my purchase so I would not lose the mapping software on the card. That locked out all of the set-up choices that I made. Once I unlocked the SD card all of my problems went a way.The following week I spent three days working in New York’s Adirondack Mountains calling on some of our customers. Have you ever tried finding businesses in small towns spread 50 to 100 miles apart in the middle of nowhere, all two lane roads with no names? I figured it was going to take days to fine these guys. I am so glade I purchased the InVion GPS it took me to every address without one error. I never consulted a map nor asked any one for directions. I typed in the addresses and tapped GO and the unit took me there every time. It saved me hours, maybe days. I will not travel without it.InVion is not perfect they are having some problems with downloads but the unit itself works great. its easy to read and all of the information you need is on the screen infront of you. I was told that the download problems have been fixed.

Very Impressive All In One GPS
By GPS useerVerified Reviewer from Long Island NY on 9/8/2007
Pros:
Accurate Maps, Nice Visual Interface, Plays Movies / MP3S /, Reliable
Cons:
not compat w/all SD cards
Best Uses:
City Driving, Highway Driving, POIs
Describe Yourself:
Commuter
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

At first it seemed too good to be true: a 4" GPS including a 2 GB SD card, upgradeable / with all accessories / USB interface / case / earphone / which can play MP3s and MP4 video for [$](rebates applied). This unit truly delivers out of the box. The Invion comes with Cosmic Soft mapping software, which is good but has its shortcomings, e.g. no heading direction, no turn by turn listing, and the screen was 1/3 blocked by the info panel. Absolute best thing I did was upgrade to Destinator software which is a free download from SupportUSAplus website. Now I get 3D maps, auto day night switching mode, turn by turn listing, heading info, and SO MUCH MORE. You no longer need to enter what coast you live on, just plug and play. I love this unit; best portable electronic device I ever ordered. Gets you around town in strange places like you lived there forever. Took it on many trips upstate NY; NJ; Connecticut, etc. Only caveat is not all SD cards will work; stick with the OEM card it comes with or other high end card; cheaper PNY / Patriot cards can't handle the write speed needed by the operating system.

Went online to update the disk, but it was hard and I'm pretty good with computers. It needs an update on the map. However, I used it from Ohio to Orlando, over to Texas, and back here. It was WONDERFUL! Make a wrong turn and it updates your directions. I was pretty happy with it! Yes, it took me the LONG way once, and yes, it didn't recognize a brand new bridge that existed (map wasn't updated), but a great investment for the directionally challenged. Use common sense and be aware there could be an error in directions and you'll be fine. I have a brother and a freind that are buying this model, for they were impressed as well.

I bought Invion 4v1 on May 2007, then drove to Vancouver, BC. It direct me to opposite direction at a couple of addresses. I thought it might be the map in Canada are not accurate. But, last week, I drove to San Fransisco and LA, it did same thing. I've a Garmin 18-USB which need to work with laptop, whenever I was directed to wrong places, I opened Garmin 18-USB and laptop(which is not convenient, and this the reason I bought a Invion), the Garmin can directions. Now, whenever I need Invion 4v1 to guide me, I have to verify it with my Garmin device first, only if there are match, I use Invion :(

There are some other problems like, slow reroute, and Windows CE crush, if you don't follow the its route and it recalculates a couple of times.

In a word, if you don't care of inaccurate, and only care of inexpensive, you can buy it.

I very strongly recommend not to buy this device.

Bought this to replace a FineDrive 400 which had a bad touch screen. Returned it promptly. It is awful to set addresses. Doesn't show direction headed. Doesn't give name of current street. It's POIs are poor. Only good thing is that its mapping was better than the FineDrive, but maybe updated maps for FineDrive would fix that. Both use Navteq Maps

Buyer beware your going to get what you pay for. I've had this unit for a couple of months. The software seems a little out dated. On a recent trip the unit directed me to turn the wrong way on a one way street. Also on a major highway the unit failed to recognize an exit wich caused me to go a 1/2 hr out of my way.
