It was very easy to use and set up. it did do everything that i expected it to do then a little extra!!!! The only thing i wish that it would have is showing how many lanes the highway is. that would be helpful at some points. It guided me 1500 miles with no problems. but the one time that i didnt listen to it cause i thought i knew where i was going. yeah should have, cause i went an hour out of my way so i went back to not turning it off!!! AA++++

This thing is junk for example
It tells me to stay in right lane to make a left hand turn
Then I gave it a simple test take me to the post office I followed the insructions to the letter it took me to someones driveway about 3 miles from the post office well there was a mail box so I think it thought that was good enough
Outside of looking cool in my truck it was money not well spent
I will not throw out my paper maps just yet

Only complaint is some times it takes me right to the address I entered and some times I'm two blocks away. Right street just wrong address. Very satisfied other wise especially when I don't have to travel back to a main road to get to my new destination. Takes me across country roads I would have avoided before. Saves me time and money. Can't go wrong with this one.

Love it. Very simple to use and while there are times it does not pick the best route, it has been very helpful. For the money, I find it a great buy. I highly recommend it.
Only complaint is the suction cup does not work well in very cold weather. Keeps falling off the windshield.

I found it useful to practice with device on known routes, to learn its little quirks. I've used it several times to get to places I didn't know, and it lead me right to the door. All of the points of interest, however, aren't shown. For example, there's a fire station less than a mile from my home which doesn't show up on the instrument's maps. Great for finding 7-11s and Starbucks.

When we travel to Medical appointments,or, look for specialty stores within a 50 mile area it refreshes our memory for less traveeled routes. And traveling to nearby states to visit family, it is a good companion.

Not so great- figuring out how to keep the battery up between trips.

I have owned two navigation systems prior, one by Dell, (a disaster) and a Pharos. Both required separate GPS locators and cords. This unit is all in one and there was no software that has to be loaded. A sturdier mount is my only suggestion - I love it so much I have purchased two for my elderly parents and one for my company car. I use is multiple times a day, and it is great even with rural locations.

Shortly after purchase we left on a 4,000 mile trip. For the most part my TomTom ONE did a good job. It was very helpful navigating through cities and finding a specific address. I did find on a few occassions it tried to direct me through a small town intead of around it. A couple of times it showed me a different road adjacent to the highway I was on. In summation, it certainly is not perfect, but very helpful.

I have used the Tom Tom one for traveling for work it has preformed very well. Yes they all have little clitches, and it did once lead me to an incorrect location, but it was only two blockes off. The easy set up was great, it took me longer to get it out of the box. I find the windshield mount to be okay, its not as flimisy in my opinon as others think it is. This unit is great for the price, it does not have all the bells and whistles as the more expenive units have but thats what I wanted.

It really does work great right out of the box...although it was really hard to get out of it's plastic package. Too bad the battery life isn't longer but it's still a great unit for the money. I couldn't get the password lock to work yet and the mounting disk I found out is not used on the windshield. (That wasn't very clear in the instructions!)

A good GPS for a great price [$]Does what a GPS is essentially for: find places. Maps need updating, but that is true for even the best Garmins. I noticed it would give me a long route for a Uturn sometimes, because it does not know a direct U turn is possible (strange). Estimated times are longer than actual ( for me that is better than if it was shorter). Free Map share is only for one year. I am very happy with this GPS especially for such a low price!

I have been a daily GPS user since 1999 when the first Garmin GPS' were $599 and didn't include any type of street level maps and auto routing. I have used them all including GPS software on laptops, on PDA's with bluetooth GPS receivers etc etc and this is handsdown one of the best I have used yet. I even owned the "better" Tom Tom ONE XL and got rid of it and kept this version because it is so small and compact. You DO NOT want to leave ANY GPS mounted on your dash or windscreen if you leave your car for even 5 minutes. I ALWAYS for years remove mine as soon as I get out of car and I have never had a break-in. You WILL get your car window broken eventually if you leave it mounted. Guaranteed...This one is so convenient to unclip and throw into the glove box or even slip into your pants pocket and use while walking around a new city. TIP. To protect it for cheap, buy a pair of babies socks in whatever cool color or design you want and slip the GPS into the sock for protective covering while not in use so you save the screen from scratches and dust.
Bottom Line.....Go buy this GPS now....

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This unit was purchased for my technically challenged father. With this in mind, for a cost effective, simple, reliable, and a well rounded GPS this is my #1 choice. My father has loved this unit from day one for its accuracy and simplicity. Anyone can use this unit with ease.

The only problem I had was with the windshield mount. In cold weather, it doesn't stay attached to the windshield very well.

It's a smart choice! I purchased two GPS units at Christmas. I gave the other brand to my brother, and kept the TomTom I got from Staples for myself! It's a wonderful and reliable unit! : )

I am a little disappointed so far

Frequent Traveler
How long have you owned it:

Pros:
Acquires Satellites Quickly, Compact
Cons:
Inaccurate, Incomplete data base
Best Uses:
Faster Routes
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I wish the data base were more complete. Many roads where I live in north Georgia are not in the data base (or are in error). Also the ETA is usually wrong (over estimates the length of time). The algorisim for speed must be too basic for accurate time estimates.

Great value for the money. It is precise with directions and speed. Because of this, I was able to determine my speedometer is broken by 4mph as I tested it in other cars which matched it precisely. Used it on a trip from Florida to Kentucky and not only did it make the trip that much easier, it took me through some backroads to cut time.. roads I would never had ventured without the unit and roads that took me right through the beautiful Kentucky Thoroughbred Horse county. Ironically, on the local side, I found it does not always find the fastest routes, but does a great job on keep you on the main roads. For example, was in Orlando this weekend staying on I-Drive and played Golf just north of Disney. It wanted to take me through Disney to Hwy 192 rather than I-4 to 192, I-4 being the clear faster route. On occasion, it is off by 200-300 feet when turning onto private roads, but quickly adapts as in the case of my development. Would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a great value and unit!

This is a very nice, basic GPS. Would be nice if it had an SD slot for addional memory like its sibling TomTom One (per website). I thought this version also had an SD slot - my mistake for assuming, but still a very nice GPS for the money.

We went on a trip from Phoenix, AZ to Austin TX. We were able to find resturants, hotels, and our bank in parts of town that we never would have went to without the GPS. It would take us right to the resturant and when we were done, right back to the interstate. No more paying premium prices from the roadside gas and food places that gouge travelers. I highly recommend this product! Con:It should remain plugged in as the battery life would not be good for using on a bike or a hike. Estimate internal battery life at about 5-7 hours.
