As someone who travels over 70% of the time, when I borrowed my brother's after forgetting my bulky, expensive noise reducing headphones, I had to go buy these. I can stick it in my pocket, drop it in a purse, it goes anywhere. It works very well at filtering noise on a plane and (when I work at home) the neighbor's kids constant screaming. I get good sound, too. My ears get a little tired of having something stuck in them after a few hours but it may not bother people who are used to in-ear headphones. Considering what you can pay for noise cancelling headphones, these are great.

The sound is GREAT. The part that holds the battery and has the outside sound canceling technology in it, is heavy and in the center of the line from my MP3 player. It tends to slip and pull the ear buds loose.

This product is a good buy but hard to keep ear buds in ear due to having no clips to hook to shirt or collar.

First use: One earphone didn't work
By bostonericaVerified Purchaser from boston, ma on 7/23/2008
Cons:
Poor Sound
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I returned the item because from the first use one of the earphones didn't work. There was no sound coming out of it. I don't know if it was just the one I bought or if all of this product are defective. I bought a cheap pair instead that does not have noise canceling, but at least it works!

By JohnVerified Purchaser from SC on 6/25/2008
Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Too Much Ambient Noise
Best Uses:
With My Computer

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Product does not do a good enough job cancelling noise unless you keep the volume up loud. Not recommended for the office but if music is all you are using it for it is decent.

Not very effective
By RPGVerified Purchaser from Morristown, NJ on 6/20/2008
Pros:
Comfortable
Cons:
Flimsy Construction, Poor Sound, Too Much Ambient Noise
Best Uses:
Portable Devices
Describe Yourself:

The ambient noise level dominated the sound resulting in poor sound quality. For frequent use, your money would be well spent investing in a higher quality product.

Philips Ear Buds Noisy
By Harmonious CodeSmithVerified Purchaser from Springville, UT on 6/19/2008
Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Poor Sound, Too Much Ambient Noise
Describe Yourself:
Frequent Traveler
Primary use:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Very disappointing. Not a fraction as good as the standard issue that comes with iPods. When the so called "noise cancelation" is turned off, you can hardly hear anything. When you turn it on, all it does is boost the volume. I refunded it at the first opportunity.

could be more comfortable; ok for the $
By bpiVerified Purchaser from alexandria, va on 6/19/2008
Pros:
Rich Sound
Cons:
Too bulky, Too Much Ambient Noise
Best Uses:
Portable Devices, Travel
Describe Yourself:

Primary use:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Much cheaper than other products purporting to cancel noise. It gave me just enough improvement in sound that I could listen to my music and work on my laptop in relatively more peace and quite (plenty of ambient noise, still). But, I thought it was bit bulky and could have been more comfortable and more compact. May be it is too much to ask for the price?

This is a ludicrous requirement...
By TesterVerified Purchaser from Indiana on 6/19/2008
Pros:
Comfortable
Cons:
35mm jack ermanent, Battery door onerous, No retaining clip
Best Uses:
Background noise, Travel
Describe Yourself:
Business
Primary use:
Business
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

These were purchased to test NC technology. The price on this product and 70% ambient noise reduction was the best combination I could locate for the purpose. Will likely get a better pair with volume control etc. and use these for backup. Some drawbacks but very hard to beat for the price. You can't have everything...
