I am not thrilled about how you download music on to the device.

I bought this and an ipod touch. Both work well, I like the touch better, but this is more compact. The best part is all the accessories available. Used with an i30 ihome2go speaker system - fantastic sound.

I bought another MP3 player last year. Good name, inexpensive, expandable storage. The screen was hard to read, easy to mis-select menu items, mediocre sound quality, kept mis-identifying tags. Nothing like iTunes available. What did I know. Colleagues kept insisting iPod had the best sound quality. We're all professionals in sound contracting and consulting. We ought to know. Many use players for test signals, so they have to be clean. One member did testing on many players and Apple won hands down. Finally bought the Nano 4GB model. Night and day. Apple has done a stellar job designing and integrating the iPod system. I'm not much into buying songs through iTunes, but Itunes is excellent for ripping CDs, collecting Podcasts and organizing playlists. The Nano is a wonder. I can read the screen without reading glasses and in most lighting conditions (I'm 54). The selection wheel was an eye-opener. The sound is a treat. I have it loaded with about 650 songs and keep track of about 8 Podcasts some of which are video Podcasts. Sometimes I think I should have sprung for the 8GB model, but this is enough for now. My only complaint is that this 3rd generation model will not work with earlier versions of iTunes compatible with Win 2000 on my desk machine. I have to access it through my Win XP Pro laptop.

It's safe to say that Apple makes great products. This is my second iPod in the past few years and i've had nothing but great luck with them. There are definitely cheaper .mp3 players out there but as long as you aren't prone to loosing your things, an iPod is an investment that will last you years.
