Two thing I really like about this player.
1. I like that when you start it up, it starts right where you left off.
2 When you hit pause it pauses. You don't have to hit it again when the back light lights up.
So far, I'm very satisfied with this product.

Got on sale with a rebate but turns out to a solid little player. Just wish it had something to attach it to clothing other than the little cord loop.

This product was offered at a good price[$], so I swooped on it for my son for Christmas. My daughter went through 2 of the Nextar 2 Gig products this year due to the on button getting stuck. The battery life is also seemingly short. Hopefully, the 1 gig product may have better features here (though it looks the same) and my son's use may be more casual than my daughter's.

Player holds a lot of tunes, accepts multiple formats. Earbuds in general don't work for me, although the sound from the included buds is very good. Matched to a set of regular headphones, the sound is excellent. I use it with an audiocassette converter in my car to play through the car speakers in lieu of the CD Player with which I have not.

Works great! Way more product than I expected for the price. Screen is small and monochrome, it uses batteries (however my first lasted a month!)and you can't make playlists: your only choices are 'random' and 'all'. Other than that, I see no reason to spend way more on a fruit brand or other music-only player.

Good compact unit but needs better headphones. It sounded like a tin can until I plugged in some better headphones. Sounds sooo much better. (I almost returned the unit because of the tinny sound) I wanted a unit with AAA batteries because when you're in the mtns (or remote areas) you can't just recharge anytime. So I can carry one little AAA battery with me and have tunes for several days.

It is difficult to rate this product because I have yet been able to get it to work. I picked it because we have never had an MP3 player and I thought as a new user, picking a "plain" 1 GB it would be simple. So far, I haven't been able to play a single song I've downloaded and the instruction manual is so basic, I can't figure out how to do anything except turn it on! [...]I'll probably just have to wait until I travel to visit my son and have a real expert get it set up.

Just writing to let you know that this player DOES have the FM TUNER - even though the description says it doesn't. The Tuner is decent not great - I believe it uses the headphones as an antenna - but I like having the option to switch to FM if I want to and it picks up powerful stations fairly clearly. The unit is a great value. I use it every day and have had no problems with it. My batteries seem to last about 10 hours and I use cheapy batteries from the dollar store that come 8 to a pack (so who can complain). Only complaint is that navigating your folders is a bit clumsy until you get used to it. I listen to music on this player and I use it for audio books. Works very well for both. Great product for the price. I WOULD RECOMMEND that you spend a few extra dollars and buy a case logic soft case for the player. I got mine at my local staples (couldn't seem to find it listed online) and now I take my player everywhere. I hope you have fun!

We bought these for Christmas presents for the family; for kids as young as 5 and grownups up to age 60. I think that this probably isn't the top of the line MP3 player but I found it easy to download music and everyone thinks that they sound great. I think that the previous reports give these MP3 players a bad rap. I think that for the money you really can't go wrong!
