Quite a few of these discs are apparently not formatted. When I put them in the DVD recorder I get a message they are not compatible. Then I have to remove the disc and start the process over again. Several of them cannot be finalized once the program has been recorded. For me, they are too much of a hassle. I won't ever use a Memorex product again, not even if they give it away.

I use DVD-R's for archiving large amounts of customer data. Memorex DVD-R's are good quality, but have about a 4% failure rate on average in my experience. That may not seem a lot, but my experience with some other brands is only about 1% failure, or less. I still use Memorex, if they are on sale when I need DVD-R's, but it's not a preferred brand.

This product works great for data, video and music. For consistent, reliable video recording I found it best to record at a slower rate (i.e., 8X on a 16X drive). Using Max speed resulted in video stops and pauses on playback.

Got these at a recent sale for [$]. I've burned a couple dozen of these at 16X speed and had only two errors - aborted the write part way through, rather than failing on read / verify, so I'm not even certain that it could be the fault of the media itself (this is the first time I've been able to use my MadDog drive at full 16X speed).
I have found this media very reliable.

I've used other name brand CD's that have a burr around the edge. These just feel like they're of a better quality. I like to make back-up copies of my CD's as well as compilations, and the sound quality is always as good as the source.
I also store my digital pictures on these which helps to free-up space on my-hard drive. When viewed with DVD to TV the picture quality is incredible!

We own a small production company in which we produce training materials for strength athletics, martial arts and household instructional/educational DVDs. The majority of the time we order our replication DVDs in bulk from media supply companies, though in a pinch will purchase these 100 ct spindles from local area stores when on sale.
Several times we have purchased the Memorex brand DVD-R discs and without fail have customers call with complaints of discs freezing or menus not operating properly from these batches.
All of our DVDs are replicated from a hard drive, not duplicated from another disc. Every other brand of DVD we've tried records with few errors. Shockingly - given the brand name - the Memorex discs record with errors, and entirely too many become a tax-break by being scrapped as they simply will not record to begin with.
A sad comment given the numbers of blank cassette tapes and CD-Rs I purchased over the past two decades always being exclusive towards the Memorex brand.
I have even experienced issues with the same discs just attempting to use them in our personal tv-top DVD recorder in our home as well as my laptop and desktop PC.
The first two times we thought we just ended up with a bad batch, but it was not the case. After several purchases our customers always complain after we use Memorex brand DVD-Rs. From our experience they consistently have the highest rate of error.

These disks might work fine with another brand recorder, but they were disastrous with my Panasonic. A few worked fine, but most would not finalize. I gave up on them after one recording when it would not finalize and the disk door would not open. If you call Panasonic, they can help you get it to open.

We burn 100's of DVD's a month. We bought every different Manufactuer's DVD (-R) we could find. Tested playback in many DVD models. Memorex PLAYED in all, even old DVD units. The days of customers telling me that their DVD doesn't work are nearly extinct. Playback is the bottom line for any disc. Over the years I only receieved one spindel with bad DVD's.

I bought these because I thought they'd be better quality, but I've had more duds with them than with the no-name brand I had before! I use them to make home-made DVD's and at first I thought the problem was recording them at 16x, but even using an 8x burner still gave me problems. I'm throwing out 1 every 2-3 discs because they can't be read by my DVD player.
