I finally replaced my former 802.11b router because this price was incredible. Set-up was a breeze (basically this thing nearly worked out of the box). I bought it in-store instead of online, but the price was the same.
The one important feature that Staples doesn't list is that this is ALSO a 4-port bridge -- meaning you can connect several ethernet-wired computers in addition to the wireless computers. I needed this because my desktop sits by the router and modem and doesn't have (or need) a wireless card. The rated speed is 54Mbps; however, my WAN connection is only 5Mbps -- so I really only see the boost in speed when moving files between the networked computers inside my LAN.
The router also comes with a vertical stand to lessen the footprint needed.

I purchased this newer generation (v7) as a replacement for a Netgear of the same model but v2 that finally died after 10 years of reliable service.I have three PCs using it at home: a Dell Inspiron 530 E2200 desktop with an Intel 825xx wireless PCI adapter card, a homemade AMD X2 4200+ desktop with a Netgear WA311 PCI adapter card and a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop with a Netgear WG511 PCMCIA wireless card. All work very well and give snappy internet response. I'm connected to the Internet through a Motorola cable modem via Internet cable service to the house.I have no complaints, once set-up this router connects quickly, keeps the connection and is speedy on all three systems; often, two being used at the same time, one by my wife and one by me. It's a good idea to match the router and the adapter, using the same brand, for better connectivity. But, I have had no problems whatsoever in connecting with my 530 desktop's Intel brand wireless adapter card.Also, I purchased my last two Netgear wireless devices (this router and a wireless PCI adapter card) both at Staples only after a thorough search of the internet for the best price. I can say, without a doubt, that you can count on Staples to have the lowest price you'll find anywhere, even beating some of the popular hardware websites such as [...]. Between these last two purchases I saved $15-30 (depending on website S&H) over the next best price available from the others.Finally, Netgear is an excellent, reputable, supplier of wireless equipment. In my experience it is a value for the price for the features you get.

This is the third Netgear router I have bought and installed on various machines. It is an absolute nightmare to set up. Their pre-programmed installation often freezes, which leaves the network in limbo while you have to fiddle with it to assign a security key. Tech support is always helpful at this point.
Two out of three routers I have no connectivity problems with. The third often had to be reset in order to get the computers to work with it. Overall it isn't a bad product, but not necessarily a great one.

I purchased this router with the Netgear Wireless Adapter. They both work great without any interruption in connections. They both were easy to install. Just read the directions....if this is a replacement for an older router/adapter like mine is, make sure you delete the old router/adapter from your computer before you install the new one.

I do not have any negative comments at this time. I used a b router for almost 5 years without any problems. I bought a new laptop and needed to upgrade the router.The price was very reasonable.

I use the Netgear Router with my laptop to connect to the internet without having to sit at the desk. It makes it a lot more convenient. I had to make three calls to my ISP and three calls to Netgear but finally got it connected.

It came with a CD that instructs how to connect and set up--the computer stays on during setup. I had difficulty during setup because I was being asked for my IP Address (?). After looking into my settings, everything just fell into place, and setup was a breeze from there on.

It took me about 3 hrs to connect a fast DSL modem to a small network of 3 wired PCs and a wireless laptop through this router to access the internet. The Smart Wizard CD was helpful. A good product for a good price!

I had tried to set up another router by a popular co. and couldnt get it to work even with tech support. I recomend this for anyone who is like me that knows very little about their computer. Setup was a breeze.

This router was setup in the common setup: connected to the modem and serving a few wireless devices and one wired desktop. Worked fine at first, then it would intermitently drop the wireless signal. The wired computer loaded pages MUCH slower when the router had not been reset recently (i.e. 1-2 days) but loaded MUCH faster without the router in-between (which is a security concern, you NEED a hardware firewall). The older version of this same model (now 4 years old) still works wonderfully and (after we found it) replaced this router (twice). In this case older is much better, this new version of the model seems more seceptable to heat problems (ours was well ventilated but still ran hot) so do not use it in closed areas (or open areas). Made me stop swearing by NetGear, sad to say.

I run a small business from my home with one desktop and one laptop. This server was easy to set up/link with my cable modem and wireless print server. I would NEVER pay someone to set this up. Save the $150 and do it yourself. "That was easy!"

After following written directions for setup and not being successful,I called tech support which was in the Phillipines and there was a language challenge in communication. After 1.5 hours on the phone, the tech determines the product was deficient and advises me to return to store where I purchased it. I returned it to Staples and bought another brand which has been excellent! [...]

Set up was easy. Unfortunately after 2 weeks started dropping internet connection randomly (which was the reason I replaced my last Netgear after 6 months thinking it was broken). Tech support, while helpful, did not solve the problem. Finally threw it away (along with the other one) and paid more for a Linksys.
Absolutely no problems so far with that one.

Router has capability to block specific web pages or by keyword. Great for at home with kids on internet. You can block access to adult web pages and any other website you want.

After 6 weeks router died. Spent 1/2 hour on the phone with India just to find out that I was required to ship unit back, at my cost, and would have to wait for 2 weeks for a replacement. Will never purchase netgear product again.

The Netgear folks were terrific- quickly and very clearly answering all questions.
The router doesn't reach very far, but is a very good buy for anyone wanting to be "mobile" with a laptop in a shop or home space.

I use this to access online for my Playstation 3 and it works great. Reasonable download times and hardly ever a victim of lag in game. A solid and less expensive alternative.

I've been using my Netgear router for almost two months now and haven't had a problem. I did have a configuration problem one (was actually a problem w/ my Internet service provider--I have Hughesnet) and I contacted technical support and they were very nice and helpful and seemed to be here in the states.

The adapter would constantly lose its connection with the router. The router was less than 20 feet away from the adapter. The router went out and would not read any connections at all only after having it less than a year. A big waste of money and time.
