This podium keep the air circulating underneath the laptop and allows you to select several heights to adjust it to. Doesn't use a USB port for a fan like some of the others. Reasonable cost.

This was given to me as a gift and I did not buy it myself through staples.com, so I will not show up as a "verified buyer" but I have used this product for over a year, daily.For people wanting to fix the "caps coming off" do what I did. Figure out which height you prefer (I liked two caps high) and simply superglue them into place. This way you don't lose any caps, and everything fits well.Overheating is the quickest way to ruin a computer, and often very preventable. Especially with these newer laptops where they're getting slimmer and slimmer, while the chips are running hotter and hotter. Especially those of you with an Apple laptop. Apple has always been known (15+ years) to have very poor cooling of their systems. The last thing you want it to place your laptop on your desk (paper sucks up against the air intake), carpet (plenty of dust), or your bed cover (fabric sucks against air intake) to overheat your computer and drastically shorten its lifespan.Admittedly the $30 price tag seems a little high, and I would have never purchased this. It was a gift to me, from a friend who already has a stand. However, having used it for 1 year, daily, with NO problems I have recommended all my family members to buy one. Knowing what I know now, I would buy one.Also, as a bonus, it seems nicer on the wrists, for those who do a lot of typing. The swivel also comes in pretty handy.

My only complaint: when raising the level above single-tier, using the bar and extra 'blocks', I wish the bar would click in place, not just sit on top of the blocks - it would help if the whole thing stuck together that way, rather than come apart as soon as you move the product.
Otherwise, it's got my computer staying cooler and easing the use of the fan, all without more electricity (i.e. the usb plug-in cooling fans).

This is the only cool pad I have seen that works for the wide, full keyboard laptops. The only thing I don't like is that the round-top cap pieces don't fit on top of or under the bar needed for wide laptops.

I've been wanting something to prop up my MacBook. Whether I'm at a desk or a table, the bottom has a tendency to heat up, as did my Compac. I wanted something by Targus as most of the products I have that work for me come from Targus.I wasn't sure whether or not to get one with a cooling fan or not, however it seemed strange to me that I would have my laptop work harder simply to cool it off. Anyway, the associate at Staples seemed to be quite certain this would be plenty, and I'm happy to say it certainly is!My MacBook Pro remains cool to the touch consistently as long as it is propped up by the Targus coolpad. I can turn it if working with someone, and it's adjustable to a number of heights. Best of all, my Mac remains cool. Easy to pack and light as a feather, I take it wherever I take my laptop and no longer worry about overheating. Reasonably priced at [$], although I believe it could be less expensive and still profitable to Targus, it does the job. The only exception to this would be when I'm in PowerPoint, and then the bottom gets a bit hot. Understandable as Microsoft products seem to use so much memory.On the whole, I'm quite pleased, and confident my MacBook will stay cool for many years to come.

This podium is awkward to use and not practical. It is so small that trying to keep it and the laptop on your lap is impossible.

I have an antique leather top desk...the heat from my Vaio was a concern (it's a pent. 4 3.2Ghz, so it throws a lot of heat). NOW, although fan is running, it's not running at full capacity, as it was before. Plus, having the notebook propped and angled makes it EASIER to see the screen & EASIER for me to type! Gotta Love It!

I use this on my desk as well as on my lap while watching TV. It really made a big difference in how often and how long the fan runs on my lap top computer. Great product at a great price.

I'm really impressed with this. Love the swivel action, love the height versatility and the rubber stops so the laptop doesn't keep sliding off when the driver of the vehicle I'm in makes a sharp turn or some such. I only wish a version of it was made to be attached (easy-to-use clips or something at the base of the swivel) to a lap-desk, that's the only minus I see with it. Or perhaps a version of it actually sitting in its own lap desk setup.

It's amazing how hot a laptop will get when you have it sitting on your lap or a sofa. This "COOLPAD" does exactly what it says it will. It lifts the laptop up and puts it at an angle so it has constant air flow going to the underside of the laptop. It also make it easier to type because of the angle that the laptop sits facing you. One can easily relax in a lazy boy with their feet up and be perfectly content for hours.

This is great I have been using it for the last 3 days and would definitely recommend it. It is small and does exactly what it is supposed to do. My neck is appreciating the better viewing angle.

Keeps the laptop noticeably cooler and so the laptops fans tend to run less. The stand has no moving parts to break, its easy to carry and can be adjusted to a range of angles for comfort
