These are a great pair of speakers. I was concerned at first, of how well the quality of sound would be since they were very affordable. So I was happily surprised, as to how GREAT they sound! They were super simple and quick to install, even for someone like me that doesn't know too much about computers. I had them out of the box and plugged in and working in just a few minutes. I would highly recommend these speakers!!

good price; does what its supposed to do; volume knob is in awkward position for my fingers to turn up or down; on/off knob should have ridges for easier gripping.

Bought it and used it last night. I have tried other brands but they were poor quality! Plus I wanted a smaller sized speakers....not big ones with woofer and etc... A salesperson told me about these little guys in which I have never HEARD of this brand at all. When I hooked it up into my new HP, I set it up with the equalizer in the control panel and viola! It was music in my ears! I played some METAL off the net and turned up the volume really high! It was loud with no distortion!! In fact, my neighbor banged on my door and told me to turn it down. As he looks inside, he noticed I didn't have a pair of big speakers. Then I showed him these puppies located on top of my desk. He flipped and couldn't believe those speakers sounded like a concert! So readers....buy this or regret it! ROCK ON!!

I bought it to attach to my MP3. Works realy well with it. Im ok with it. It would be better for if the speakers were wireless, but its pretty good for what was paid for it.

I was surprised by the size of these considering the box looked rather small, the controls are easy to use and they are sleek in design. Definitely a good value for the money!

I added the speakers to my home office computer which is on a small desk with limited space.
I like the easily reached volume control.
Like everything else, the speakers are powered by yet another wall wart for which you have to supply AC. Mine is via a surge surpressor with an extension because the power module would cover up another AC outlet on the surge supressor!

Great. Perfect volume. I can use them whenever i need, how ever loun I need. They are great when they need to be quiet and go louder then i expected. Although a little bulkey, it does not take long to adjust to and they are perfect, now that i have gotten use to them.
The controls are smooth and rounded making them difficult to adjust with one hand i.e. reaching over while at your computer.

Our goal was to purchase a low cost set of speakers that sounded relatively good and took up minimal desk space. This product met our needs. We are pleased with our purchase. (The ipod/MP3 cradle is silly. You don't really need it. No real benefit of having it.)

I needed a pair of speakers for my new computer system, but didn't want to break the bank, or gobble up too much of my desk real estate. These speakers are perfect ... good sound, powerful, and very compact. A good price too ... exactly what I was looking for.
I hate how the power, volume and tone control dials are so flat that I can barely get hold of them to turn them on or change the settings. Also the speakers are too large to sit on anything but a really large desk. I am sorry I did not get a different set and would like to return these.

These speakers actually fit to either side of my monitor on the top part of a roll-top desk (a very tight space!) I can even launch my music program and wander into the kitchen while still listening to a track.

I bought this product to replace speakers for my mom's PC. The color matches her PC and don't take up much room. They are attractive and very practical and she loves the product. If you don't listen to lots of music or like a lot of bass, these are great!

These speakers are okay, serviceable, and a good buy, but are not the quality I had expected from Altec Lansing. Perhaps the chief reason is their lack of a sub-woofer. It's worth the extra bucks to get the sub-woofer. It increases the dynamics immeasurably!

was looking for inexpensive (but not cheaply made), stylish computer desktop speakers that I could also use with ipods, and *without* a bass so I wouldn't annoy the neighbors. (not for someone looking for loud rock and roll music)
has on/off switch and all necessary ports.
mp3 'cradle' pretty useless, just holds the player. If it had a true ipod cradle I would have been willing to pay the extra $$.

I love watching movies on my laptop and with this speaker system the sound is so much better than with just the laptop speakers. I haven't used them with a presentation in a large facility yet so can't comment on the power of the speakers. I am pleased with the quality considering I didn't spend a fortune on them. Great product!

These speakers have decent quality for the money but lack in poor buttons. The buttons don’t make any sense. They are too small to use and to shallow to turn. Otherwise the speakers themselves are a good buy. I would only use these in the office and purchase speakers with a remote control for the home.

I bought a set of these speakers about 3 years ago. Still using them to this day. We added a second computer to our home this past Christmas. We needed to buy speakers for it. Went back to the store and found these were still on the shelf. Little bit different of a design (the last design wasn't so odd looking, more straight box look). Same sound and still working good. I have four children ages 13, 10, 7 & 3 that use the speakers every day. I have never had them fall over or loose any sound or get stuck being loud only. My daughters have the one set in there room and they play there music CD's on them all the time. It's great because it doesn't get so loud that I have to tell them to turn it down. My mother-in-law needed a set of speakers so I bought her the same pair. She has no problems with them either.

I hate directions, but trying to follow the teeny, tiny, pictures on the flaps of the carton was ridiculous! Would it really be so difficult to enlarge the pictures for those of us who are getting older and whose vision isn't quite as good as it used to be?

Another review claims that the speakers would not stand upright and had to be laid horizontally. That certainly wasn't the case for me. They stand upright no problem. Cosmetically, they're attractive and made my computer system set-up look a little nicer. My only complaint is that the maximum volume setting could be a bit louder. Otherwise, I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend.
