I really like this unit. The only drawback I can see is it is not user-friendly when printing envelopes. When I put more than one envelope in at a time, the unit jams. Pulling the paper tray in and out takes too much time and the paper tray lid does not open until the entire unit is removed. Otherwise it makes fantastic copies, faxes without issues and prints flawlessly for me.

I was able to set the unit up without any issues.

I do recommend this to my friends and family.

This is a nice cheap machine. It died after a year of extremely light use. (I probably made 25 copies total and that's the extent of the use). Cost more to have someone look at it than to buy a new one, so that's what I did. Brother was less than helpful when calling. When it worked it worked nicely. Doesn't copy light print well, but good for basic copies of printed material.

All the comments about the power button on this model have not been a problem for me. Just need to hold it down for about 2 seconds (says so in the instruction book). I keep getting an error message that i cannot get to leave the screen. I think it is because I have it plugged into a USB 1.1 slot instead of my USB 2.0 slot. No worries. Just move the error message into the corner and ignore it.

I used HP for many years until I tried Brother and now I've been using it for abouth 5 years and I'm abouth to buy the most recent All-In-One.
Still, there are some functions missing to be the Very Best All-In-One:

    1. The broadcast report doesn't say the name of the document PC-Faxed.
    2. Missing an option to print all broadcast reports to a folder in a low resolution pdf, (save ink, paper and time).
    3. Missing link or very complicated to transfer PC-Fax Speed Dial Info to the Fax Machine.
    4. Faster Fax Modem.
    5. Capability of faxing more than 10 pages (at least 50 will be more reasonable)
    6. It needs to have an easy way to block junk faxes.
    7. It will be the very best if it had the option to save messages and then, when needed, be able to send any recorded message to a list of telephone Numbers. Example: I manage a 46 apartment complex. If I need to communicate a message to all residents, I have to call each resident at a time. Whit this proposed option, The user (me) will be able to record a message, select a group of phone numbers and make a broadcast call. Automaticaly a report could be printed or saved in a folder in a low pdf format for a later review, saving paper, ink and time.

Please let me know if you need more ideas....

    Thanks!

    Héctor Acosta

So far the Brother MFC-240C has been a practical addition to my home office. I have used 3 of the 4 functions (Fax, Copy, and Print) and have enjoyed the quality and speed. It does not take up a lot of space, which is ideal for the small area I have set up for an office.

Can't believe how inexpensive this was...I expected (for the price) to get a cheap quality item & got the opposite. Prints a very good quality document, scans great & faxes come in very clear. We use this for personal and for business (printing contracts, PO's, and billing). Haven't used the photo copier feature yet though, but so far so good!

I am pleased with the quality of the copier - am copying old family photos with good results. The scanner has limited editing qualities for pictures but I bought the unit on closeout and it was well worth the price....Set up directions were easy to follow

This is my 2nd Brother printer. The price for what you get is great. It does all I need and with very few problems. Easy set up. Better way to get to ink than last one. Paper tray is cumbersome, but you can't have everything. For personal use it is great. Picture clarity is a little off.

I bought this printer because my much more expensive MFC440CN quit printing blue shortly after I stocked up on ink for it. It was 18 months old. I'm still using it to print documents for the time being but needed a printer that I could print quality photos with. The MFC240C used the same ink cartridges so I bought it to use up my remaining ink. The first one I got jammed every time I tried to print a picture, it would get 7/8 done then start feeding crooked ruining the picture. I took it back and they exchanged it for a new one. I took it home, hooked it up and tried again. Same issue with the second one. I took my paper tray out of the MFC440CN and tried it in the 240 and it still jams. At least I had the good sense to buy the extended 2 year warranty on the latest one (something I rarely recommend doing). I think I'll get way more than my money's worth exchanging these cheap junk printers.

Excellent inkjet printer, prints great photos. This is my second purchase of a brother inkjet printer for my business/personal use. Good price for printer and for replacement ink cartridges. All multi functions work great. Uses excess ink for cleaning print nozzles. Color cartridges will empty almost as often as the black cartridge even when you do not print anything in color because of excess cleaning of print nozzles. You cannot continue to print when any cartridge is empty; this is a safety to prevent the print nozzles from plugging with dry ink.
