One morning, not too long after the warranty expired, the cartridge carriage started slamming from one side to the other and a “Cartridge Jam” error message appeared. After a few power-downs with the same results, a “Paper Jam” message came up but there were no jams to be found. Again, trying a few more restarts, a “Reset Power” message came up with lights flashing and that’s as far as I can get it to go now even after doing an HP soft reset. After researching the problem on the net I have found that this is a well established issue with this printer. If under warranty, HP will just send you a new one. If not, your SOL and will be buying another printer. Do yourself and favor and do a Google search on: HP 6310 reset power

my old scanner a 4600 flat scanner gave out on me.i needed something quick and i figured i would get an all in one this time as i travel and it would be less to haul. so far i Love it. i can scan multiple pages into one nice pdf file with the document feeder. That cuts down scan time for me which in this business time IS money. my favorite HP printer so far.

great for home, home office, and small bussiness use. we use it for all. We use it daily, and fairly hard, the printer we had previously was a 6210 we used just as hard ( we print near everything) and had it for 4 years. Very durable. We have had other brands and this is the better of the 3 brands we have had previously.

Horrible, Slow, Defective Printer
By Kim SVerified Reviewer from Urbana OH on 9/9/2008

Easy Setup
Cons:
Flimsy Construction, Jams Easily, Says Out of Paper, Slow Operation, Unreliable
Describe Yourself:
Heavy Duty User
Primary use:
Business
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I made a big mistake purchasing this. From day one, it would say "out of Paper" when paper was in the tray. Now, 90%of the time it says it. I pull the paper out and put back in and it will print 1 page only. Then "OUT OF PAPER" again! Very cheap machine. I'm done with HP's. They've gotten worse and worse. I replaced my 6110 with this (b/c of it not pulling paper through properly anymore). Way worse. And very SLOW when it does print. EVEN SLOWER COPIES!

OK with WIn XP; Useless with Win Vista
By TMVerified Reviewer from San Francisco, CA on 9/8/2008
Cons:
Hard Setup, Hard To Use, Unreliable
Describe Yourself:
Infrequent User
Primary use:
Business
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bought my first HP printer in 12-15 years. Very dissatisfied -- again. Scanner doesn't work with Windows Vista. Even the printer and fax drivers disappear once a month or so -- requires uninstalling and reinstalling the software.
With Win XP (We are forced to keep one computer running XP just for this device -- so much for network flexibility) the scanning works...but even here once in a while it requires resetting the printer!
HP also installs so many always-running programs. I don't know what all of them do but so many definitely seem unnecessary.
Very disappointed in HP. The last time I bought a HP printer I decided never again. Broke that commitment and bought this device because it was the only network all-in-one within the budget. But, once again, never a HP printer.

This is a good machine for the home. I use it occasionally, so I can't comment on heavy-duty use, but so far I am very pleased. A little slow at times, but what I use it for doesn't require speed, so I'm happy! Prints out beautifully. Haven't tried pictures yet.

The best thing about this machine is: it really prints fast, I am impressed with how it prints and good quality printing too. Ink is really reasonable (even though it says it's empty in the ink levels but still I can use it. I only change the cartridge if printing is no longer good). The only complain I have for this is that: the copying and scanning features are kinda slow.

I USE THE PRINT FEATURE, FAX, AND SCAN. ON BOTH OF THE PRINTER UNITS IN THE OFFICE. THE SMALLER ONE IS USED AS A SHARED COPIER, FAX, PRINTER. THE LARGER L7780 IS USED AS A PRINTER MOSTLY. I AM AN APPRAISER AND I PRINT A LOT OF THESE DOCUMENTS. I LIKE THE PROFESSIONAL LOOK OF THE PRINTS. THE ONLY NEGATIVE I KNOW OF IS THE INK DOESN'T LAST VERY LONG. NEED LARGER CONTAINERS.

This 4 in 1 was easy to set up and works as promised. One negative is if you use an answering machine on the same phone line as this unit, you MUST plug the answering machine directly into the back of this unit for everything to work properly. This is not a big deal unless you like to unplug your computer equipment during lightning storms to avoid damage (I've been hit twice is 4 years). To simplify, in the past I could simply hook up everything in parallel. Otherwise, after 5 weeks, no complaints.

This is my second All-In-One and I wouldn't be without it. Loved my first one and decided it would be my second also. It has all the features I need all in one place - fax, copier, printer. I don't have room for 3 separate pieces. Although I don't use it for printing many, if any, photos, but have noticed from my previous one (6200 series) that it has more card slots for all digital media. This could only be a plus for those that use a lot of digital media. When this one retires, I'll definitely be finding my third HP All-In-One.

I'm a heavy duty user when it comes to electronics. This printer for the price was a good choice and that it came the next day as the add said. Great colors and great printing speed. To print from your camera, all you need to do is connect your USB cable to the front and you are ready to print from the printer. To set it up is easy as well; Had no problem going through the menu to set up date/time and exc....

This was not the all in one that I had originally wanted but I took the salesmans advice and I am grateful that I did. It works so much better than my lexmark. It prints out super fast. I have not had the opportunity to use the fax yet but all the other areas on it work great. I recommend buying this all in one.

Product is great for light duty, works well, however the scanner took several days to set up correctly and was not compatible with our computer programs. We had to download drivers, etc. after hours of searching the computer and internet for a fix. Scanner is great now but noisy. Nice product, but not built for business useage.
