At first was hesitant due to size of machine but trusted the name "HP"...made space at home and was pleasantly surprised at the ease of setup and the use of my 4 in 1...wish it was constructed more compactly...would definitely consider buying another HP product when the time comes...my previous HP was about 10 years old and never gave me a problem... it still works well...wanted to "upgrade"...looking for newer technology..
It works great for anything you wish to print. It is faster than any I have ever had.
I've been using the L7580 for a week with no problems so far. I use it with an Apple iMac running the latest OS connected via USB and an older Apple laptop connected wirelessly. I can scan to either computer direct from the glass and print from either computer. The print speed is incredibly fast. The printer power up start time is less than 10 seconds. During setup I had to go to the HP website and download the latest driver for the Mac. After that, the Mac recognized the printer immediately and overall setup took about 25 mins. I primarily use this printer to print PDF's , Excel Spreadsheets and multipage form letters. [...]
I have set up numerous printers previously and never had problems trying to set one up until now. After 2 hours on my own one evening and 2 hours getting online help the next evening they told me to contact Staples for a replacement. The printer also told me that the yellow cartridge was low/empty and needed to be replaced. Replaced the Cartridge but it did not solve the problem. Printer stayed in the alignment mode forever then failed alignment. The printer was never used except to try to align the cartridges. Staples did replace the printer and the second one is OK. But my level of frustration with the first one was not good. Seems the ones that work may be OK but there also seem to be a lot of problem units being sold.
Easy to setup, Easy to use, won"t such you dry on INK, you can't go wrong here.
I bought this printer because a manager of the local Staples store recommended it as the least expensive printer (I was considering a color laser). When I first used it I was amazed at its speed.
It was relatively easy to setup. I have it networked to my wireless router, and everyone in the house can print to it.
I recommend the 88XL printer cartridges for best value.
Not bad....jams easily with cardstock, even the inkjet postcards.
I use my All-in-One everyday for real estate. I print lots of listing sheets with photos on regular 20lb paper and find the color quality better on this machine than on my prior HP 7310 All-in-One and it prints much faster. It does not double-side print as did the 7310 which I could use. The only real problem is I can't seem to keep the scanner running and calling for tech support is extremely time consuming. Too often tech supports sounds like they don't know anymore than I do.
Flatbed prints in a satisfactory fashion;scans not so well. This evening I received three faxes from a 917 area code, albeit I live in a 212 code; all fax receipts failed. Have no trouble receiving faxes from local area code, however. Have talked to [...] HP about it - I could not understand HP's CSR[...]
This product makes doing business a lot easier. However, the difficulty setting up the copy feed on top of the machine impedes the ability to make multiple copies.
Very similar to the very reliable d135 I used for 6 years. It hurt to give up ink that I'd recently purchased in 2 paks
The owner's manual that comes with the machine needs to be a little more user friendly. The set-up choices are not as complete as they might be, but you can get help with the toll-free telephone support. The print quality is beautiful (HP always is). The speed is very good.
THIS PRODUCT HAS MADE STARTING MY OWN BUSINESS EASY.
The only thing I found that this HP didn't have is a confirmation option for faxes sent. My previous HP All-In-One (10 yrs old) did have this feature and I used it everytime I sent a fax.
I have an office staff of 4 people, and after a few uses the screen says "checking devices, may take several minutes". So it slows things up alittle. I feel it uses alot of ink also.

I did alot of research and needed a multi use color printer. Love HP printers so....needed something that could wireless I purchased this product....LOVE IT!!!!!! and would recommend to anyone and everyone!
I am very happy with this printer. It is fast, easy to operate and comes at a great price compared to lasers.
As a printer, it usually does fine (a little loud, a little slow, but ok). The document feeder does not pull well. I stopped using that feature altogether. I also thought it came with the duplex feature, but it does not. I like the ink level monitors. An extra-large black ink lasts me about 3 months. I've had power issues with this machine, once after 3 months, and this one at 6 months is requiring a replacement unit. I'd rather have a new machine.
Had to replace my HP 7400, which was discontinued and this was the suggested replacement with similar features. I like the print quality. I have had a few issues, which in searching online, others have had the same issue and HP has no fix. Having Windows 2000 and this machine (L7580), I can no longer fax a document directly from my computer. I must print and then manually fax from the HP device. I use this daily for business, heavy use, manual faxing is not an option. Had to buy a separate fax modem and install to regain the capability. HP had no fix for the problem. The machine also is very very slow when printing and LOUD. The sad thing is my research prior to purchase showed the HP to be better than any of the other manufacturer models out there (2/08). My 7400 was wonderful (until it died - but it lasted 4 yrs and for printer used heavily, that's great), wish they never discontinued it.
So far I haven't experienced any paper jams with the HP Officejet Pro L7580 All-In-One. Black/white and color copies are more than satisfactory, and the copy speed is just right.
This is another good HP product. I bought it for the individual ink tanks advantages. After the installation which would not ever work from the install disk and then the download that worked I am pleased with each feature for which we have used the printer.
How do you copy and receive in the same order?
The copy tray comes apart all the time.
The feeder mechanism is workable but requires that the paper feed exactly straight. If it doesn't, the paper will jam - so using the feeder needs some babysitting. I haven't used it that much - maybe it will get better with time and experience. Otherwise, prints very fast and colors are good.
Great printer

Used primarily for business, it was equally used for printing and copying. Scanning and faxing were less frequent. If it did not break all the time, is printing time was ok and the color was good. It broke in enumerable (see items noted above) ways at least twice or three times a week until it quit altogether 5-6 months post purchase.
I have never had problems trying to set up a printer and this piece of junk never was able to align. After 2 hours and getting online help they told me to contact the place I bought it. I asked them to send me an email confirming I had tried to get online help and they wouldn't send me one. It also told me that the yellow cartridge was low and would need to be replaced. The printer was never used except to try to align the cartridges. Absolutely do not buy this machine.
Eats paper when we try to fax. Unreliable especially fax.
I have been rather disappointed in this machine!! It jams constantly, almost always has an error message of some sort... and HP has horrible customer service when you have an issue!! I had to un-install and re-install the software a total of 6 times!!!
We use this a lot daily for two in-home businesses and some personal work. It prints with the quality & speed of HP at an attractive price, however the construction leaves me wondering if it will last. Do not usually buy the extended warranty when offered, yet I am glad I did with this purchase. Sounds like it really labors to print. Using the XL cartridges makes sense to extend between trips to reload ink.
Seems like some corners were cut in the software department. Everything works fine as long as you don't try to do anything out of the ordinary, such as two-sided printing, or two sheets per page, or feed/print an envelope straight. It's like it must have been made in China. The tech support has been good to help me through the problems, but the software could have been built to provide error feedback when you don't do a setting correctly. Also, it didn't include a "duplexer", and one hasn't a clue that they even need one for two-sided printing at the time of purchase. Hopefully it will last as long as my last HP Officejet.
I bought this machine for frequent, but light duty business use. Seems to print alright, but the document sheet feeder cannot handle even a dozen sheets. The fax will not send all of the pages and the copier will not copy all pages. Usually skips 4 of 15 sheets when faxing or copying via document feeder.
We've used it for about four months and would definitely buy it again. It has done everything we expected it to. I really like the way ink volume is always displayed.

THis is the third variation of this model. I am pretty happy with the looks, performance, and pleasantly suprised about how quickly it prints.

Daily home office use. I've a hardcore HP fan, but this machine has let me down quite a bit. I've replaced it for another and more problems popped up. First problem was the occassional bottom lines of the paper would not print, but if you reprinted, they might print. The plastic parts that keep the ink compartment door closed broke within two weeks. I had to scotch tape it closed. It burns through ink at a rapid rate compared to any other color printer I've owned. It takes upwards of 2-4 minutes to power up before I can print, every time! Overall, they've missed the mark on this design.

For an office machine that can scan and print documents and photos quickly and look great, this machine is fabulous! It is fast and reliable! We had major problems setting it up with Windows XP Professional but finally got it done. Some of the online chat technicians were helpful and some were not helpful.

this is our second machine in 2 months and they keep jamming...I thought HP had better stuff than this piece of junk!

Document Feeder is tempermental, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Each time it is used it has a new problem. Couldn't get the wireless network to work. Each time you use it you get a whole new host of problems of which it offers no solutions. Things that should take 5 minutes take hours cause you are constantly troubleshooting things that used to work but no longer do. I loved my old HP all in one but I would not recommend this machine.

First machine was replaced because it would accept one of the HP ink cartridges upon installation. Second machine was replaced because document feeder jammed. Third machine's document feeder still will fail periodically, i.e miss inserted pages, skew inserts. Printer takes too much time to warm up and is very slow to align cartridges.

I could'nt do without it!

This model is faster than my last hp machine. It seems to be using more ink, but the cartriges are cheaper. I am already having trouble using the scanner, which worked for about one week. The help desk info, is not too helpful unless you have hours of time to try to fix it. Overall, it is not a bad machine, but I expected more.

Very dissappointed in Faxing from this machine. Feeder does not work. We're forced to fax from Glass 1 page at a time. Time consuming and not efficient. We have always used HP Products and have been pleased with them. However, the feeding mechanism for faxing from this machine (L7580)has not worked properly from the start.
It is easy to use,we use it all the time for school stuff and home use.I would reccomend it to others.

I bought this all-in-one mainly to have automatic duplex printing. After setting it up, I discovered that you need another [$] piece for auto-duplex. Once that was installed, I found that duplexing involves a 20 second wait between printing each side for the ink to dry. This is annoyingly slow when the idea is to save paper printing a large document. You can get around it using the Draft set up and changing the duplex to automatic but the quality suffers.Good machine just be forewarned.
Finally an all-in-one that works. Got rid of Brother and am very happy with the HP. Might be a little louder than I like but it is fast and reliable.
Great upgrade, but would enjoy a more versitale model. Maybe I am greedy now that I have a printer that actual does something. Took some time to get vista drivers. [...]!
So far we are pretty happy with this machine. Just a little too noisy is my only complaint.
Gets to be a bit expensive to operate. While I love the individual ink tanks the cost per is a lot. I am a heavy user and so far it has performed well.
Very hard setup, hard to use, poor tech
support.
We have other HP printers, but the ink capacity on this one makes it a worthwhile addition. The printing speed is great.
I would buy this printer again because of the high quality printing and color copies that it produces at a very affordable price.
The all in-one works great. The network function is perfect for me. The copying is just a little slow, but I don't do many, so I love this machine.
got a defective one ,but returned it for the same product-seems to be a good machine
I am very happy with this printer - I had been using Dell printers for a while and I am happy with the realizability of this printer.
Good price for multi tasking
The paper tray slides into place but does not lock in so it is always falling off track. Same thing with the one on top of the unit - that is worse since then it is difficult to feed a fax through.

This is the third one of these printers I have had.The first one new paper jammed and I tried to remove the paper and flimsy plastic parts came out.The second one would never communicate with the computer. The third one is working great except paper jams frequently.I get four - six faxes daily and it is great to be able to receive in color.I bought a new Compaq office computer, a new 17" HP Top line Lap top Computer and a new all in one HP Officejet Pro L7580 within a four week period in August 2007. I had a had time getting your equipment to correspond with each other. This is great to know that the machine uses much less Ink.[...]
We purchased one HP Officejet Pro L7580 Flatbed All-in-One for a non-technical Company's CEO, and this CEO was so successful and liked the L7580 so much, that with a few days we ordered a second one for that CEO's home office.
I have told everyone to get this printer that it's fast dependale and I only have to have one printer for 2 computers.
