with the only caveat that emptying the shredder bin requires lifting off the shredder from the bin --and putting it back onto the bin afterwards. the shredder has some weight and it would be nicer to be able to remove just the bin. suspicion is that the required cabinet then would increase price. OTHERWISE this shredder shreds a lot, including old credit cards etc, and does a great job. never been easier to shred one's old financial, tax, and other outdated, confidential papers...

don't forget the lubricant sheets. you and the shredder will appreciate their effect on the shredder's soundtrack.

I was using the shredder to shred old papers that had accumulated around the house as well as junk mail (e.g. credit card offers), and other documents. I was really happy with it until it quit on me a week ago. For the amount of money I paid, I expected to get at least 2 years use out of it. The customer rep I spoke with said it sounded like gears were bad and it would be cheaper to just buy another shredder since it was past the warranty period by 4 months. Great!

I have had two of these shredders. Both of them I threw out with in 3 months. Used in a very small business.Shredded well BUT, and this was the BIG problem, if it jammed it would auto-reverse and it would actually draw more shredded material into the cutters and then it would jam. You couldn't go forward or reverse. In trying to clear the jam it would strip the plastic gears that ran the cutters. The motor has metal gears the cutter has plastic.I wrote to customer service at Staples about this problem and they didn't even have the common courtesy to respond. If you feed less then 3 pages at a time, it was fine. If you emptied the bin at only half full, it would be fine.[...]

This is a great product. However, if you have vinyl flooring I suggest you put down a piece of wood or rug under the machine as the legs leave dark circles in the vinyl and they don't come out. If someone knows how to get the dark circles out I would appreciate the information.
