I recently purchased this product and I am extremely pleased with the quietness and the micro cut shredding. I probably use the machine 5 times each day and it does great!! I love the micro cut - much better than my old strip shredder.

The best thing about this shredder is the quiet. I can even do shredding in the early AM while I have my coffee. A great buy!

This is the best shredder you could own! It is quiet and very efficient. The paper shredded size is small and would be difficult to piece back together. I liked it so much I purchased two; one for myself and another for a gift. Don't miss this one!

COMPARED TO OTHER SHREDDERS THAT WE HAVE OWNED YOU COULD PLACE THIS ONE IN A BABY'S ROOM. IT SHREDDS SO THAT WE DO NOT HAVE TO EMPTY IT QUITE SO OFTEN. WE ARE PLEASED WITH THIS ITEM.

This product is great, as far as when you turn it on, you don't even know it is running. I think the heat light comes on to fast. I find after running only about 10-15 pages through the light comes on some of the time.

This shredder was quiet for a couple weeks and now is very noisy as if something is jammed. I opened it up and there isn't a jam. I will call for technical help. I would recommend buying Fellowes over [@]or [@](Aptiva)brand shredder. It's a big disappointment.

I annoyingly test machines out in the stores FIRST. I thought that this machine was brilliant; nice dimensions (space saving); shreds paper into "snow" and occasional "dust" (plus); EXTREMELY QUIET (plus) however 2 minutes is much too short and oveheating light was on for a long time. the machine overheating can be balanced out with very loud fan to cool it off more quickly...
Did not buy product. I recommend only if you shred VERY LIGHT docs. Honestly, it really is NOT worth the money if you're looking for more. Wait a while longer and you might get quiet and longevity. I'm pretty sure it will cost a shiny penny...

over several months of use it has gotten progressively louder and noiser, messy when emptying, doesn't do well shredding anything but paper, shredding dvd's and cd's really doesn't do well and then it operates even louder and noiser than before, no matter if you are doing routine maintence on the product as per manufactor intructions.
Obviously, this is designed to shred the most sensitive documents. It is quiet. But, using
this shredder can be a full time job for someone.
If you have any volume of material to shred I
would not recommend this shredder. I am taking mine back as this is the second chance I have given this product and it has failed. Terrible
value even with the rebates.

The product is exactly as other users reported. It is extremely quiet, shreds well, easy to empty- you don't have to lift a heavy lid. But- it definitely overheats within 2 minutes. It does not take much shredding to reach that 2 minute mark. If you pay all of your bills at one sitting it might overheat.
I also noticed that because mine is on carpeting and the floor isn't flat, the bin sometimes slides open a little which automatically turns it off.
However, I kept it because it is extremely quiet and more importantly has the on/off switch on the side and the blades themselves are a few inches below the tight input area. This ensures I can keep it plugged in without worrying that my cats might jump on top and accidentally turn it on. They tend to sit on top of anything that is above ground level.

JUST DO LESS THEN 15 SHEETS AND LET IT COOL OFF.

I use this on a daily basis for any thing that has my name on it that I want to throw out.
I love the quietness of it.
I only empty the bin every two weeks. I squash the pieces down to make room for more. I use the baggies to catch the shreds. Keeps things neater/less mess.

It's the beat shredder. However, it doesn't take too much paper at one time. Also, you can only use it for a short amount of time. It's not good for a biog job.

Fantastic shredder! It is powerful, yet SO quiet! It has a little window on the front where you can watch it "snow" as it shreds. Great for banking and financial papers. Micro-cut cannot be re-assimilated. A must in the day of the dumpster diver!

It's a nice shredder. Runs quitely. The only thing if the machine gets jammed. Red light comes on. You have to turn power off for half an hour. Power back up when half an hour is up. The machine is back to normal use.

Use the shredder daily for junk mail, credit card applications or for anything that has important information that I do not want put into the trash. Excellent shredder. A product that is well worth the money!

I collect a lot of papers over the years from my various retailers who refuse to offer electronic statements. A lot of these documents have sensitive data on them, which I'm not comfortable throwing away as, with a lot of apartment complexes, vagrants love to dig and see what they can find. This will be my third shredder.One big thing about shredders for me - they must be quiet. I know that seems illogical, but I randomly stopped by [...] one day and tried each one, when I came across this one. What really caught me was how quiet it really is. It's no louder than my TV which is very impressive; doesn't sound like a factory building cars like the others I've had. The other thing that caught me was how well it shreds. Others just slice up the paper into strips which annoys me as I know how easy it can be to reassemble - but this one really SHREDS paper.Also, the bin is reasonably sized; coupled with the micro cut, it'll take quite a bit of paper before you have to dump it, which I very much appreciate. There's a separate slot for CD/DVD/credit card shredding; that slot is a slicer slot, unfortunately. If it also did the micro cut I'd use it for mail still in the envelopes. Not a big deal, just a nitpick.This shredder has ONE problem and only one...it overheats way too easy and there are no vents or anything to help out with it. If you shred 30 documents back to back, it WILL overheat, and it takes nearly half an hour to cool down because there's no venting of the heat or fan or anything. I'm hard pressed to understand why Staples did not just install a small $10 computer fan into this thing with a vent hole to help expunge the heat. That would have allowed me to keep a fan blowing the hot air away from the machine. As it stands I'm forced to shred, wait a minute, shred, wait a minute, etc. Very annoying for a [$] machine.

I first used this machine in a professional capacity. I liked it so much that I bought one for my personal use to shred credit cards, receipts and ohter personal documents. It can't be beat for helping to protect you against Identity Theft. The fact that I got it on sale was even better.

I shred old documents with personal information; old scripts; old bills, junk mail soliciting credit cards, etc. This shreds things so well that one thing is for sure: no-one can steal your identity from anything that went through this shredder! It does overheat quickly, though; and it was too pricey when I bought it. I notice the price has come down since I bought mine, and the salesperson did make a point of telling me that this particular NEVER goes on sale - (proven to be a lie the next week!) -- apart from that, it is great, and it's comparatively quiet.

The shredder is great. It is very quiet and the tiny shred size makes me feel more secure. The only drawback is that the manual tells you to not shred for more that 2 continuous minutes and if you let it overheat, you need to turn it off for 20 minutes, so it pays to follow the manual on that one.

To keep shredded papers from flying as I empty the bin, I sprayed the bin once with “Static Guard”. It works perfectly.

We use this product daily. Over the past five years, we have accumulated four, now broken, shredders. This one is the most quiet, efficient and effective shredder we've bought in the past fourty years. I expect it will last quite a long time. While the recepticle of the shreds is very adequate, just to give you an idea of how much we use it, we emply the bin at least monthly. We are very please with it.

I use this product for a small bookkeeping/tax office. It shreds great and has good power. My only complaint is that if you have "a lot" of papers to shred at one time and it constantly runs it heats up to fast and takes a long time to cool down before you can use it again. But I do like this product very much and would recommend it to others.

I use a shredder mostly for day-to-day disposal of junk mail and the occasional "cleaning out" of files containing old bills, bank/credit card statements and personal correspondence.
This machine is ULTRA quiet...the only thing you hear is a very soft crumpling of paper as it's drawn into the machine. The micro-cut shred insures ultimate security with no chance for reconstruction of sensitive material.
After reading other reviews about the quickness of overheating when using this machine, I was somewhat skeptical about the validity of the complaints. I assumed most people pushed the limits when using this shredder by overloading and/or constant use over the span of hours. I discovered quickly it doesn't take much to push this machine over the edge...mine overheated after several minutes of shredding one sheet at a time with no staples/paper clips attached.
If you're looking for a machine that will destroy sensitive materials completely over short periods of time (occasional use), then it's worth the money. If you plan on using it to destroy last year's files in one sitting, look elswhere - unless you enjoy staring at an illuminated red "OVERHEAT" light.
We've had this shredder for 6 months now and we're very happy with it! We use it in our home business and it's great. I would highly reommend it for small business or personal use.

I tried to use this product for high volume shredding but it overheat too often. It becam anoying. I also don't like that the paper is stuck in the blade area and you have to vaccumm it out. What I do like is that it does shred the paper where I don't have to worry about anyone getting any personal information.

We really like this machine but it can not shred the amount advertised without overheating. We lubricate regularly, generally with each emptying of the bin. The sheet lubricant is easier than the lubricant you can buy in a bottle.

Wish it had more than 7 sheet shredding capacity - 10 to 12 sheets at a time would be nice. The micro cut feature is great, documents are completely destroyed. Quiet operation. Love that it shreds CDs, credit cards, paper clips, staples. Tends to overheat if doing high volume shredding.

Unlike Fellowes, Staples failed to note in its ads and manual that, like the Fellowes MS-450C, this unit is designed to operate only 8-10 minutes maximum without automatic overheating shut-off. It actually shuts-off in about five minutes or less of light-duty shredding.

I shred all our personal papers to avoid ID theft; however, due to slow speed and quick overheat, I find that I must use my other crosscut shredder except for the most delicate and valuable documents.

For the most part I love this shredder. It was a little pricy but worth it. The only thing I don't like is that the credit cards shredder section does NOT shred the credit card small enough to NOT read the numbers or name. This needs a major overall as I have had other shredders that did credit cards well but didn't handle paper well without jams. Did buy a 2 yr warranty on this product due to lack of confidence in 4 other previous shredders from different manufacturers.

We have a home business and handle multiple confidential documents which require shredding. Our last shredder was very noisy and didn't hold much. This shredder truly is ULTRA quiet and the bin capacity is very adequate. And its very convenient not to have to remove normal staples from documents before shredding.

I had a cheaper shredder that sat on top of a trashcan and it would shred for hours but it wouldn't take the staples. I purchased this shredder as a replacement but the only advantages are the confetti shredding feature and the ability to handle staples.
