I love these pens. But finding refills for them is amazingly confusing.

I hope that the following information will be helpful to anyone about to embark on this quest:

I carried my empty refill to stores and couldn't find any that were the same size and configuration. Finally, I took a chance and ordered these (74396) from Staples, knowing that I could return them to the store if they didn't fit. My pen looks like Item: 559208, Model: 33921. My empty refill says "SXR-C1 09-07-K10" on it. (Almost impossible to read.) I read this number to the sales representative on the phone, but when he looked it up there was no record of it, not even as a special order.

The picture of these 74396 refills does not match my empty refill. The difference is that mine has a black cap on the end.

I received my refills 15 hours and 11 minutes from the time I ordered by phone!

I was glad to see that the refills I received are exactly the same as my empty refill, but not the same as the picture. They have the same number on them, "SXR-C1."

It is odd that such a well designed and well made pen has such poor packaging. The number of the refill should be on the package!

Here's some more information: The Black Bold refill for the retractable 73839 pen is 35972.

The labeling on the package of refills is very confusing. The pen is a Uniball Jestream. Because the store didn't have any refills for that pen, it was suggested that I order online. I order 2 two-packs 0f 74396. The pack mentions "Jetstream."

The service was excellent. My refills arrived the next day. Unfortunately, the refills do not fit my Jetstream Premier. Back to the store. I am hesitant to try any other refills since the one that were marked "Jetstream" did not fit my pen.

The pen is one of my favorite pens. But getting a refill for it has become a long, drawn out process. It seems to me that there is insufficient labeling information to make a proper selection.
