We make it easy for you to do your part by offering a variety of convenient technology recycling programs including: empty ink and toner cartridges, office technology, rechargeable batteries and cell phone recycling. We also offer technology trade-in services.

Ink and toner recycling

Recycle your empty ink and toner cartridges at any Staples store and get $2 back in Staples Rewards®. Not only do you earn Rewards to use at Staples, but you're also reducing landfill waste and saving resources. Now that's rewarding for both you and the planet!

Trade in your newer technology devices

Trade in your newer, working technology devices in exchange for a Staples eGift Card. Visit www.staples.gazelle.com and identify your device to see if it has trade-in value. If it does, you ship the device to our partner Gazelle - for free. You'll receive your confirmation and Staples eGift Card via email, and you can redeem your eGift Card in any Staples U.S. store.

Recycle your office technology and personal electronics for free

Bring in your old office technology products to your local Staples - even if you didn't purchase them at Staples - and we'll responsibly and securely recycle them for you for free. Our program, now powered by HP, provides free recycling of desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, shredders, UPS devices, computer peripherals, and small office electronics like mobile phones, GPS, and digital cameras. We accept all brands, but there is a limit of 6 items per customer per day and we cannot accept televisions, appliances, floor model copiers, stereo equipment, alkaline batteries, and certain other household electronics.

Recycle your rechargeable batteries

Bring your rechargeable batteries that can no longer be charged to your local Staples for free recycling. Through our relationship with Call2Recycle, all batteries collected are recycled responsibly.

Eco services

Greener copy and print options

Our standard copies are printed on 50% post-consumer recycled paper. Our paper is also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council to be harvested from responsibly managed forests. And all of our copy machines are ENERGY STAR¨ qualified.
