I use my shelves for books. Lots of books! They are great. No assembly-just open them up and put books on them!I use them in my small dining room/library and I added a solid wood top across my shelves to also use as a buffet! It works great!

The problem with this product is that it is not packaged well enough to withstand shipping and handling. The first one we bought (poughkeepsie) was broken when we got it home. We went back to exchange it,and the only other one in the store was also broken. And by broken, we are talking about cracked, shattered, severely damaged stuff... The store personnel blamed all the damaged merchandise on the rough handling within the warehouse. So, the store ordered another one and sent it to our home.....THAT one was broken, too, so we sent it back. My husband stopped at an another store(wappingers falls) and checked the one that they had there---broken, too! Then, we happened to see another Staples store in another town(kingston), and we went in to take a look....lo and behold, we finally found one that was NOT broken.

I love the shelf design, and the easy setup. However, we have ordered 5 shelves, and 2 of them have had a cracked shelf. However, Staples has a great refund policy, so it isn't a problem to exchange.

We've been looking for well-made, inexpensive floor shelves to organize our finished basement/game room. Just when we were about to give up finding any real wood shelves for under $100 a pop, we stumbled on these three shelf units through Staples (on sale, no less). After ordering three, we are very very pleased. Built in Thailand with fairly solid construction, these solid wood shelves pop easily into place without any assembly. All three levels are sufficient in dimension to handle books of all shapes and sizes (we have a lot of hard cover or oversized books), as well as DVDs and other items. The dark cherry coloring is also a nice look, and is consistent between the three sets we bought. Now I regret not getting more!

This is the third set of these bookcases I've purchased. I'm using this set for craft supplies and books. I like stacking them to save space. The one issue I have with them is the space beween shelves is not large enough to hold larger books or some magazine holders.

I'm a writer, teacher, and avid recreational reader. I have *hundreds* of books! I wanted sturdy, attractive wood bookcases that wouldn't break my budget, and these are perfect. In fact, I love them so much I bought 10 over the course of 2 years, 8 of which I have stacked into 4 tall bookcases. I have four of the 4-shelf mantel-top version too, which are also fantastic. I put double-rows of paperbacks on a lot of the shelves, and heavy hardbacks on others. I've never seen any of the shelves sag, much less split. They are attractive by themselves, or stacked and placed together for a library effect. The wood finish is warm and lovely. I have screwed the bookcases to the walls for stability, because I have little nieces who like to climb, but they aren't uneven or flimsy. When I moved recently, it was great to be able to take them apart, fold them up and load them in a truck in minimal space. I will definitely be buying more of these if I ever decide I need more shelf space.
I would highly recommend these to anyone who wants an attractive, sturdy, low-cost solution to storing books.
My only complaint is that for some bizarre reason a paper label about 5"x8" is stuck to one of the shelves in every bookcase. Sometimes it's under a shelf, which is annoying but not distracting. But other times it's on top of one of the shelves. I've yet to be successful in getting one off cleanly, but since they are covered by books I don't worry about it. Just annoying and unnecessary.
A great product....Serves my purpose v
