I like the bookcase a lot; it has a nice finish that looks like a nice quality. The back piece is really just for show (relatively flimsy), but it doesn't hurt the storage capacity of the bookcase.

Not all the holes lined up perfectly. The cardboard back pops off easily and rips, so be careful not to push books (or whatever) back too hard. For the price, they look ok and hold my books. But I wouldn't use them for an upscale, posh office or room in my home.

The method of construction for this bookcase is incredibly slipshod. After following the assembly directions as closely as possible, the bookcase came out crooked because the way that the side boards "fasten" to the fixed shelves isn't hard-fastened. Instead the shelves basically just hang via holes on screws fastened to the side boards, and it's up to the flimsy cardboard back piece tacked into the back to provide all the stability. What a crummy design. You can find much better for [$], I feel totally ripped off. If you're smart you'll look elsewhere.

I purchased 3 bookcases for my 3rd floor attic office which has sloped ceilings so the height is perfect. In addition, I was able to buy the bookcases on sale so the price was perfect. Unfortunately I need more shelves and there was no option to purchase additional shelving.
I liked it so much, I bought 1 for home

Bought for storage in my new apartment. Could have bought a used bookcase from moving seniors, but with little access to a car, moving furniture is difficult. This bookcase was cheap enough and with a little extra[...]. Didn't have a hammer on hand, so I used a wrench to smack the nails down. Nice construction and sturdy. I don't know how the upper shelves would hold textbooks, but I don't really plan on finding out.

I have bought a number of these from Staples over the years but didn't discover how solid these could be until I started using wood glue to put them togetter. I glue all the joints, including the back panel. You must use clamping to get the proper results - if you have real carpenters clamps that's fine, but I just put the side panels on, lay it sideways, and lay heavy boxes of books on it as it cures . Then I lay a bead of glue over the back panel, and nail the panel down, then I turn the whole thing over and lay it on the cardboard box it comes in. Then I lay the shelves sideways over the top and again put boxes of so that the back panel gets plenty of weight to clamp tight. Once it cures, you have a bookshelf as strong as the solid wood ones or ones that use high end carpetry joints The joints don't move or shift.
I use carpenters wood glue, Titebond II or III or Gorilla Wood glue - these are waterproof, but any carpenters wood glue will do. Make sure to wipe the runoff of the glue that invariably drips over the sides before it dries with a damp cloth. It's a little extra work, but if you do it this way, you will have a solid bookcase that looks stunning. And it really doesn't take much extra time, as long as you don't mind waiting for the glue to dry. Just remember to use the carboard box it comes in as a mat to keep from getting glue on your floor. Highly recommended.

I needed to replace some dump-destined bookshelves in the kids rooms so I thought I would give these a try. Very good construction fit and seem quite sturdy once assembled. They still look like cheap laminate though.
