The product works well, quality color prints, scans, and copies. I have not had to use the fax mode yet, but if the scans are good, the faxes should be too.
This is my fourth HP Printer in a year. It seems that this printer was made strictly to give people a hard time. After awhile of heavy use the printer fails to print consistently. I would not buy it again.
I am so disenchanted with this product, I have had it for only four months and have had jamming issues for the past 3 which have progressed. I have been giving it the benefit of the doubt but today I have no printer to use. When it does work it works well and the printing speed is a time saver. It jams very easily, especially recycled paper and label paper. When it does jam it chews up the paper and I have had to literally pick pieces of paper out of the chamber with a tweezer. I can't get my labels to line up and have gone through a lot of paper and money, not to mention time and aggravation. Today it's telling me the back door panel is open when it is clearly not and yesterday it printed dyslexic (literally, I am not joking). It's the most expensive printer I have invested in and I have gotten far better with the cheaper ones. I am glad it's still under warranty and with any luck I won't have a problem getting it replaced.
The first time after one day of setting it up it would not work. [...]Took it back to my office and it worked for a fews days and then froze. Called HP and they had me take it back to Staples to exchange it for another because of the hard drivers. It worked fine for a week and now it wont print because it keeps telling me it is jammed and there is no paper there jamming it. Can't find thenumber on any of the booklets to call HP.
Fax began missing half the page when receiving. Need to replace the entire machine per HP. Not as good quality or dependable as older HP products. Ink jet door pin broke. Cheap plastic quality. Had to call 5-6 times before they found the right part to send.
I use this product in an insurance office, seems to be overly noisy when printing.
When printing postage on envelopes. it jams on a regular basis, and paper through paper port jams on occasion.
Overall it seems to be a good machine other than the jamming.
Used to print and fax from physician office. This unit does not work reliabily. Purchased in Apr 08 HP replaced it with remanufactured unit within a month. Had same problems with the second unit. Fax function locks up randomly. The Vista print drivers are defective; incompatible with Windows Vista and MS Office 2007 (cuts off end of MS Word documents, omits columns in Excel when printing) as confirmed by a HP level 2 tech support person. I have spent 50+ hours with HP tech support trying to make this thing work. When it has problems HP blames it on everything except their printer and software. HP help occassionally just makes things up; my favorite, this unit cannot fax from the computer despite the fact I have been faxing from computer (when it works) for over 4 months. The drivers have been installed/uninstalled dozens of times. FYI: you don't just uninstall, you have to go in and edit to get all of its bits and pieces. Save yourself the headaches buy something else. Just recently HP offered to buy it back so it is going back. Great potential but did not deliver.
I love the 2 sided aspect, wireless is great. Its fast. It uses ink faster then my old printer and it starting to jam a lot. So if that keeps up, we have problems, even with the good stuff.
Reliable machine for heavy usage.

I have had this printer several months now and am extremely pleased with it. I was truly amazed at how easy this printer was to setup. I upgraded from an HP D155xi and am extremely happy with my purchase. The wireless printing feature works flawlessly. I have not experienced any jams, and have been able to do double sided printing with no problems. I like the option of being able to use extra large ink cartridges and have been able to use that option.
I have been able to perform scanning with the wireless feature as well, with no problems. The document feeder has worked perfectly every time. I would have to rate this as the best HP printer I have ever purchased. HP has outdone itself with this small business printer.
products unrelieable, has problems with feeder
Could not set the product up...after many hours w/customer service, they agreed to send new product. After new product arrived 8 days later, same problem. Again, after many hours w/customer service, determined it was print driver default. After 8 days, received print driver. At that time, problems printing for the yellow print cartridge originally supplied was bone dry...all cartridges were only half full (standard policy). So now with this frustration in the past, all is well. I love HP printers, so I have great hopes for the future.
Set up (wireless) was a pain, HP tech support was of no use.
Once set up it is a great printer!!
We are on our second machine due to feeding problems, the machine just destroyed a document we were trying to fax.
We now use the copier by lifting the top, unforunately this will not work for faxing!!
I USR THIS PRINTER FOR PHOTOS GRAPHS AND CHARTS GOOD QUALITY PRINTS AND GRAPHS WORKS GREAT AND CHEAP TO RUN.
Our business used this machine to fax primarily, copy secondary with plans to use the scanning capabilities in the future. However, the fax would never recognize our document in the feeder, it was slow to fax and print a status page. Also not able to use the fax again until the fax was sent, confirmed and the status page printed. We also had several issues with fax pages jamming as well as printer pages jamming. I would not recommend this unit to anyone, for personal or business reasons.
I do personal and business (the primary use above will not let me click both. I can't get the printer to pick and choose the trays as needed. That is the primary reason I bought it. It is used for legal papers (mortgages). [...]
The first unit that I purchased did not work I had to have HP ship me another unit that took more then a week to get and had to give them my credit card information so I would return the broken unit. The 2nd unit was easy to set-up as to the cable's, software download but unit does not always stay connected via wireless connect so I can be mobile and print so I had to go to USB cord. Unit gets jammed more times then not when you print on both sides. Manual is not very user friendly with all of the features. Very easy to replace ink cartridges and paper, plenty of space to get to components. HP products have gradually gone from good to bad. I will not purchase another HP printer after this unit breaks which I expect in about 1 1/2 years. They have also lost customer service satisfaction. Customer service reps. read from a book to tell you things plus it is hard to understand the non-english speaking people which creates frustration on getting your problem across.

Had some trouble with the driver for XP Pro at first but deleted it then downloaded it again and it worked fine. Havent used the WI/FI yet have RJ45 cable (cat 5) to router and no trouble now.
The machine is a good muli tasker. The ink cartridges are set up similar to a laser and appear to use ink at a slower pace. Fax and printer work at a good speed.
I Fax, Copy & Email All Day. I'm a 1.5 Person Office and I need something I can rely on. I think I should get more than 1 Year 3 Weeks on a unit.
Sincerely,
Debbie Gaylard
I really like this machine. My only complaint about it was the amount of tape used for packing! Very easy operation (I am by no means a computer guy. Plug and play basically, just follow the directions and do not try to go ahead of them and you will be just fine. BTW make sure to plug the fax line into the phone jack and not the ethernet plug! :)

Originally purchased the model just below the 7780 (L7680) and it jammed from the first try. No issues with the this L7780 although thier virtually the same. The quality of prints are awesome and will look like laser on "normal" print. Lives up to its high speed performance and ink cartridge costs are some of the lowest of any printer.
I use it daily as it supports an active home business. I'd recommend it to anyone needing quality work on a low budget.
This printer is horrible, be sure to google the model number and you will see all the bad writeups. Stables should be ashamed for selling this. Bought 2, the store could not get to work either.
This is a very flimsy device that doesn't begin to match up to the HPG85 all in one I had previously. Cannot print or fax more than a one or two page document without it jamming. Had to dismantle the device to clear a jam and cannot get it back together. Completely unusable except for minor jobs. I returned the first one which was defective and will turn this in for a different brand. HP's support was terrible and I cannot recommend them after YEARS of buying HP printers. They lost me as a customer.

If you aren't a computer nerd, you may want to get one of your friends that is to help set this one up. It does some really great things but only if they are setup correctly. I had no problem myself but I have a friend that has owned this printer longer (from my recommendation) and was only using 1/2 of what it can do. She's now loving the printer much more that I've got her up to speed now.

I have this unit in my home office. I typically send 30-50 fax pages per day and print about the same. This is the 2nd 7780 I have had as the first one's document feeder failed (as did my previous HP all in one - model # escapes me).
This printer prints well and faxes well up until the ADF fails - and it will, I guarantee it. Both of my previous HP AIO's failed 1-2 months after the warranty expired. If you use this product heavily, or have multiple users, the ADF will go on you. It starts with it not catching one of the last pages in a multiple page fax, then progressively gets worse.
The huge problem I have with this printer, the previous 7780 and the AIO before that is the software. It consistently drops my computers from their scan connections, however still allows them to print. I do a lot of scanning to pdf, which is useless when I constantly have to re-install the software (which is a super long installation process BTW). I have searched all over the internet for a fix, and I came across multiple users who have the same problem. Please HP, fix your junky software.
If you don't plan on using this for scanning, it's a good unit. It connects easily to the network. But if all you need is a printer, you can spend significantly less on something else.
It's a heavy solid-feeling unit, however the plastic housing on the unit is cheap. The display is nice, and the menu is reasonably extensive.
I only got another 7780 b/c my service plan let me replace it, and I am kicking myself for not going with another manufacturer. I was in the middle of a project when the other one failed, and I wasn't in the mood to learn how to use a new AIO so I replaced it with the same thing. BAD move.
For the price and the hassle of using the scan feature, I think this product is a piece of junk. I don't recommend it at all.

This one is much faster than my old HP printer. I really like the copy and scan functions. Really easy to use. A bit larger than the old one, but not enough to be a problem. Really easy setup.

Everything you will ever need. Fax, scan, copy, print. Even prints great photos! This is a true all in one laser killer. Toner is cheap and last as long as laser cost per page.

WORK RELATED
It's fast, and it has so many features, but the drivers wreaked havoc on my computers, and when I tried to reinstall them, the printer could no longer be detected on the wireless network. There are simply so many flaws with this unit - after a few days it couldn't be detected on the wireless network; it frequently jams or feeds in multiple sheets at a time; tray 2 can't be used for faxes; it doesn't print very close to the edge of the sheet.
Great delivery, arrived in fine condition. Staples' customer service was out of this world, but HP - as usual - offers tech support that's so bad it's probably worse than no tech support at all.

Fast, great quality and easy to set up.
This is quite possibly the worse printer on the market. I can say that honestly I have never had so much difficulties with a printer. The wireless stopped working within the first month of having it. (And my company got 3 of them, they all failed!)The print heads kept gumming up so every line looks like half the lettering is missing. It looks very unprofessional. Save yourself the trouble, get something else. This would do better off at the bottom of a lake. Unfortunately there is no negative star.
Work out of my home office, bought a new All in one on June 18, 2008. Have had many problems, most recently the ink head deffective, needed to get replacement part. Jammed frequently (after every other print job), however; since my print head was defective, may be better after I get the part. HP has a difficult time sending replacement parts!!!

Simple to setup for wireless networking; must disable antivirus software and firewall for wireless install then reactivate (follow the directions). Happy with the included extra paper tray. Exec Director of non-profit organiztion/do much work from home office so printer is very important/used for everything from printing business cards to color brochures to documents--good quality with this printer.

Got a great deal on this machine that i could not pass up, it went together easy, fast, and does everything i need plus adds that home office feel, i use it daily and worth every penny in my opinion.
This machine is a piece of trash. I bought this at Staples 13 months ago. Tonight the machine completely broke down and will not feed paper. I only use this for home and some occasional office printing when I work from home. The lifetime page counter on the internal web server for the machine currently reads 931. That's TOTAL LIFETIME pages. The drivers for this machine are horrendous. I have both PCs and Macs. When OS 10.5 came out in November 2007 it took HP until February 2008 to make a set of working drivers for it. For 3 months I couldn't print from any of my Macs. Scanning to the computer will frequently crash the HP Scan Soft program. The drivers for Windows are equally terrible. Scanning will frequently crash the HP Scan Soft program and will also cause a problem with the HP Status Monitor. Once this happens you can't do anything with the printer until you reboot your machine.[...]All the time in between this machine has been a pain in the backside. Constant jams, both from the printer portion and the sheet feeder. It got to the point where I even blamed my paper. To try and remedy this situation I went and bought "HP Inkjet Paper". It is expensive but has a nice quality feel to it. Unfortunately my printer didn't like it any better and chewed on many of those pages, too. To the printer's credit it is amazingly fast for an inkjet. Making a copy of a 20 page document would take about 45 seconds. Unfortunately you will probably have to clear a few jams when the sheet feeder chews on your 20 page document.[...]If you are looking for an all-in-one either buy a cheaper machine that you won't mind losing your investment on if it dies in a year or go all out and buy a nice color laser (preferably not HP!)

Nice higher scale home office machine.
Easy to set up, light weight, reliable, easy to use.
This is a great product!!! Does everything you need and printing is top quality!!!

I purchased this printer because I was told that it was designed for a high volume office. I was also told by a Staples employee that this was the best printer they had. I am now on my 4th printer in one week. The first 3 printers froze up when I tried to connect the wireless up. The 4th is a different printer all together. I later found out by troubleshooting the problem that this has happened to most of these printers and hp knows about it and is still selling them. HP tech support told us to update our router firmware, which we did...still nothing. Please spare yourself the trouble that I went through and don't buy from a company that knowingly sells a product that is inoperable. The following is straight from HP's web site.
HP Officejet Pro L7500, L7600, and L7700 All-in-One Series - The HP All-in-One Stops Responding during Wireless Network Setup
Issue
The HP All-in-One turns unresponsive during the wireless local area network (LAN) setup. No buttons on the front panel respond, and the HP All-in-One cannot be turned off with the Power button. The control panel display freezes.
This has cost me a lot of money in payroll and also my personal time on Sat. and Sun of this week AND last week trying to fix this and HP could care less and can't seem to make it work!!
This was a replacement for the identical printer before. In the first one, the Automatic Document Feeder quit working. In this one, the very first time I tried to fax something, I got an "Original Loaded" message and the message has not disappeared since. The truth is, I'm afraid to use it anymore and I want to a refund.

Overall this would seem to be a decent printer. However the top feeder tray did not feed my documents properly at initial set up. After a frustrating wasted 40 minutes talking to 3 different "repair service" reps it was clear that the only solution was for HP to send me another unit. The replacement unit worked properly but I dread having to deal with any other future issues with this printer. HP needs to employ people that actually work on the printers to answer questions. I can read a repair manual better than their reps in India!
HP defers all service problems to India where the people are not trained beyond reading the repair manuals. Very frustrating to deal with them since they do not actually now how to set up or repair anything. They are good at politely parroting what is in the set up instructions/manual. The outsourcing of support only works if the support is competent. Real customer help is a thing of the past.
I was disappointed the yellow ink disappeared when I was only making black copies. The auto feeder jammed and stopped working after 3 times. The doors keep popping open when the machine jiggles as it prints and then stops saying door is open for the ink. It's been a real disappointment!!!
Good for small room when you need scanner and picture transfers to your computer. I found it noisier than the last all-in-one HP we had. It does shake the whole table especially when printing fast with black text printing which is most of what I use it for.
When I need to print, fax, scan, or copy it is ready to go when I need it.
I like being able to print from laptop or desktop where ever I happen to be and know the copy will be waiting for me.

Good machine but the software often uninstalls itself without warning for the scanning function.

I reviewed AIO printers for two years before selecting the 7780. I was persuaded by the overall 'thumbs-up' reviews on CNET and other technical articles without regard to the [$] price. The Staples $150 discount made the purchase a must-buy. I am extremely satisfied with the quality and performance while the assembly and setup were completed in an hour. The 7780 lives up to the 'top-of-the-line' rating.
using for current university required professional papers and presentations. Also using in home office set up.
This will [at this point]be my "last" HP product purchase. Flimsy construction, poorly written instructions, over-priced. HP is standing on past record of quality and performance. This is sad, for, until recently, HP "generally" produced good, well built, quality, solid products. Based on past performance of quality, this was my 5th. HP printer purchase - however, no more.

I have used HP, brother & Canon all in ones, I prefer the HP. This series is larger and louder than the previous HP's, but I have found the software better and the machine a little more reliable. I have used this machine for two months now and I am glad I continued with HP. you can scan documents into PDF, keep a log of your faxes, copy up to 14" on the glass or ADF. scan and print great pictures. my only issue is how loud this machine is.

I had been looking for a machine to supplement an aging HP D155xi and this one seemed to fill the bill. I read reviews all over the internet and there were so many problems that I nearly didn't buy it. But having had great experiences with HP products in the past, I figured it was worth a try. What a machine!...much better than the D155. Setup was a snap. You must follow the directions to the letter and you must give this your full attention. If you do, the machine will work flawlessly on your first try. I have XP Pro and the software installed quickly. The wireless connection works great and you can print from anywhere in the office. Saving documents to network folders is a great feature. Having two large paper trays is very helpful and the top try can be locked so that you can keep photo paper there and not worry about it being used by mistake for regular print or copy jobs. If you have XP Pro and you take your time you can count on a great product here!

I should've listened to the 69% of the reviews on this product that rated this All-in-One printer the worst that HP has made...when it jams, the ink leaks onto the paper, thus you're loosing valuable ink; noisey??? good grief...terribly noisey..when it's printing, sounds like the printer is going to walk off the table...it grunts and groans when printing... I will admit, though, when it "did" print, not bad. Problem was, printed 50% of the time; jammed 50% of the time...and this was with the high-quality ink jet paper, 22-24 pound paper...software somewhat difficult to download and setup for the networking section...took about 2-3 hours to set up...problems connecting re the networking area....I purchased this product as Ithought "The grass was gonna be greener on the other side of the hill...." Boy, was I so wrong......I immediately re-installed my old reliable HP Officejet 7310 All-in-One....yeah, it makes some noise and doesn't print as pretty as the 7780....BUT, IT'S RELIABLE! DOESN'T JAM! PRINTS EACH AND EVERYTIME! EVEN AFTER BEING 3 YEARS OLD AND PRINTING THOUSANDS OF PAGES, IT'S STILL GOING AND GOING AND GOING.
I use this printer in an insurance agency and so far have not had any problems.

I love the ease of copying 2 sides of a report. It makes the job so much easier.
This is the ONLY HP all-in-one that is designed for Vista. It found the wireless network in less than 30 seconds and took about 5 minutes to add the print drivers to each computer. The wireless network is faster than the wired network. I had 3 L7650 printers that I returned to another store. The L7650s network with XP but not Vista. HP has been using hardware/firmware designed for previous versions of Windows and trying to use software to patch to Vista. It does NOT work. There are many problems beside networking They say compatable, but they need to wake up and re-design their other printers to be designed for VIsta (and not supposedly patch compatable). Like it or not, we are stuck with Vista for the foreseeable future. Get to work HP! I have not had this long enough to evaluate overall usage, but I lost hundreds of dollars in business trying to get the other printers to work. This one took about 30 minutes total to be up and printing!
