Does NOT Magnify When Flat on Page!

I bought this product based on the description hoping it could be laid flat on a page, etc. to magnify the item. However, it does NOT magnify unless you hold it above the item (recommended 5 inches)- not mentioned in the online description. I find this to be uncomfortable and awkard, especially if you have to hold the item you want to magnify as well.

This is not for someone with vision impairment (such as macular degeneration). 2x magnification isn't much. Great for normal or low light situations to read a paper back, or the phone book, or the towns on a map, without straining your eyes.

i bought product to read recipes...i wanted something to lay flat against the page...with product you have to hold 5 inches above recipe...
does not enlarge print that much...very disappointed
