I read the mixed comments before buying - the "helmet" design is low tech but it does work well on my phone...maybe because I have a short cord from the base to handset. The cord is no longer one giant knot. The "helmet" piece plugs into the handset not the phone and swivels each time you pick up the phone. This prevents the cord from knotting into itself. I like it, also, because it is black and blends into the black phone (I also bought from Staples :) 2 years ago).

I have used similar products on other phones and been happy with the way it keeps cords from getting tangled, but was shocked to find that after opening it, finding that there was no way my clunky new detangler would be able to fit into the cord jack on our phone's handset. The handset is just molded too sleekly and I can't even get the thing near the plug in. VERY annoying. I don't believe they have to be so clunky.

We have had terrible reception and constant crackling in our phone line with our handset coed, but after I put this on our phone, our reception is great! I would recommend and will buy another if needed.

how long is the actual piece that fits into the handset...not how long is the whole product....just the part that fits into the handset...our handset is deep. It must be more than 1/2 inches long.
