Not much noise canceling here

The main problem with these Sony noise canceling headphones is that they don't cancel noise to any appreciable extent. You can hardly tell the difference between the headphones with the noise canceling system on or off. Earplugs or regular ear protection headphones work much better and are a better value.

Excellent sound; long cord

The sound clarity is amazing with these headphones. I am amazed at how much richer my familiar music sounds. These work well with spoken word and audiobooks too. They sound great with the noise-canceling setting off or on. When the office gets too loud, it's nice to flip on the noise canceling and enjoy some peace and quiet. However, if they're not on my head just write, they fall off rather easily. And for some reason, the right side is not as comfortable as the left.

I purchased these headphones for my 4 hour return flight on a recent trip because the cheap, noise canceling headphones that I had purchased a couple of years ago just were not cutting it any more. They did not do that great of a job with the noise and the earbuds bothered my ears when worn for long periods (like a 2 hour movie). I used my new Sony headphones on the return flight and they were comfortable and did a great job blocking out the airplane noise. I was also pleased that they did not block out the pilot announcements that were given during the flight. I could actually hear them better while wearing the headphones becasue they blocked out all of the chatter and background noise.

i use this with my ipod. the old one, i used i only had to use 1/2 voloum on the ipod, with this one i have to use almost full and it doesn't block out the noise as good as the old one.
