We purchased the laser pointer for a PowerPoint presentation, for personal use, however I can see using it for business purposes as well. It is compact, lightweight, the toggle switches work well, as does the laser pointer. The USB storage inside of the unit is also a plus. The only thing that I feel that it is lacking is a timer. That would make this unit a 5-star, rather than a 4-star piece. A light to indicate that it is on, rather than just the "on & off" switch on the side might be a consideration so that the person using the unit is reminded to turn the unit "off" before storing it away.

difficult to get USB receiver to connect

I have used Targus Presenters with my laptop in the past, however they were not the same model as my recent purchase. Prior to this purchase I have had no problems with the presenter's receiver connectivity on any models that I have used. It is totally frustrating trying to get this receiver to connect. It is never just a plug in and go, but it involves moving the receiver in and out and from side to side until you hit that sweet spot that allows it to connect. I am happy with the presenter and it's operation once it connects. I have no problem connecting any other items to my USB ports.

    I don't need some fancy presenter that does tricks I'll never use, so this presenter is perfect for advancing slides, blacking out the screen, pointing, and other simple features that are used the most when teaching a class. One of my favorite features is the usb receiver is stored inside the presenter when not in use - so I don't have to worry about losing it.

        I use a SmartBoard in my classroom and wanted something that I could use that would allow me to be in the back of the classroom. I was apprehensive to purchase this because I needed this for multiple software. It works amazing with PowerPoint. With the SmartBoard, the blackout screen is not compatible. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

        I have used Targus before. This one the back panel where you put in the batteries, the little piece broke off and now it is taped shut. This happened on the second day of its use. You spend [$] and it is all cheap plastic, [*]. It works great but construction has a lot to be desired.

                This particular product cannot be used with MAC. However, the company sells a Targus Bluetooth Presenter for Mac. According to the Targus website, the MAC compatible product comes with a laser pointer and cursor control.
